bad link, but here are the text:
Cast Notes: (9/16/03) This project received national attention earlier this summer when "The Hollywood Reporter" ran a story announcing four casting possibilities: Ashton Kutcher as Luke Duke, Paul Walker as Bo Duke, Britney Spears as Daisy Duke and Anthony Anderson as Boss Hogg. A Warner Bros. source, however, has officially confirmed that *no* casting decisions have been made as of yet on this project, referring to the 7/31/03 THR story as "some wild flyer" that was "speculated." Unofficially, *I* would speculate that of those picks, the one most likely to actually happen is probably Ashton Kutcher, who is very popular at Warner Bros. (at various points, he was rumored to be in talks to be a studio favorite for both Batman and Superman), and who is a self-professed fan of the show who famously wore a Duke Luke costume for Halloween, 2002.
From Ashton Kutcher's perspective, here's what he said when Entertainment Tonight asked him about the role on 8/21/03: "That's a rumor, [but] I'm really interested in it... I haven't seen a script or anything. I don't know how that rumor comes out. I think I went out for Halloween one time dressed as one of the Dukes of Hazzard and then people are like, 'Oh, he's doing the movie!'"
