Sibilance and RTi Speakers

I seem to have an annoying problem with sibilance in my home theater system now. Is this a common trait with the RTi series (CSI5 Center) speakers?

I can't speak for that particular speaker, but my CSi40 had some harshness akin to sibilance until Audyssey reigned it in. That said, if it's a new speaker, it will mellow slightly as it breaks in... but it could just be the AVR or amp you have it paired to. Different combinations produce different results.Equipment list:

Sibilance can be attributed to one piece of gear or a combination of gear used, or source material. When we say everything matters, we aren't yankin' your chain. Even certain cables can contribute or lessen the effect. Try taking the B&K out of the chain and just use the avr and see if that helps. That amp may be in need of some refurbishing.HT SYSTEM-

I use RTi8s and CSi5 w/ my Pio SC-25 and have no problems with sibilance that I'm aware of. I use those B-stock MIT EXP speaker cables..

I have your exact speaker setup and havent ever had an issue. I even ran it off the same vsx1120 for a while without a problem, maybe it's the amp?

I pulled the amp out of the loop and I still think it's a bit sibilant. I replaced my 16 gauge speaker wire with some 12 gauge speaker wire a while back and I'm starting to think it's to blame so I'm going to swap back to the smaller gauge and see if that's the cause.Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1

I swapped out my center channel's 16 gauge speaker wire and replaced it with the 12 gauge and I still notice the Sibilance. I even swapped out the HDMI cable. I'm beginning to think it's a trait of the new DirecTV box and some of the TV stations we watch like ESPN.
Next I think I will swap out my left and right channel speaker cables and pull the banana plugs out of the loop also. I may also pull the tweeters from my rear speakers and place them in the front ones to see if that could be a problem.
I'm starting to think I may have a crossover problem.Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -
I just put the MIT ExP2 speaker cables on my front 3 for my HT and I have already noticed a nice improvement. Less harsh, with tighter bass.
They still have some of the 10' "B-Stock" pairs in stock, they are a steal for the price and a great way to get into higher end cables for a nice price.
