Got them yesterday. These won't be keepers. Stay tuned. Gorgeous cabs, everything that can be re-foamed will need one (8" lower mids, 10" woofers, 12" woofers).

    George -

Is 9LS similar to the AR9's that you covet so much? Just curious :) I hope all is well! New job is going well for me.

Real similar. The 9LS was the answer to the placement limitations of the 9. The outer woofers on the side-firing 9 need 3' before the first reflecting surface, and the back of the cabinets have to be within 2" of the front wall in order to reach 28 cycles. The 9LS has a forward firing 12" woofer and a downward firing 10" in stead of the two side firing 12" woofers on the 9. The 9 has the Acoustic Blanket on the front baffle and some contour adjusters also on the front baffle. None of that stuff on the 9LS, and it cannot be bi-amped as the 9 can. They both use the same 12" woofs, 8" lower midranges, dome upper mids and tweets, except that instead of two separate drivers as on the 9, the 9LS tweeter and upper mid are in one housing. Both cabs about the same height and weight with the 9LS being a little wider, the 9 being a little deeper.
