They seem to have DSACD in Europe. Anyone heard it?
Why don't we have it?

You mean SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc)? Yeah, we have plenty of it.Political Correctness'.........defined

I was thinking it was Digital SACD instead of SACD.
This would be where you can play SACD thru the HDMI outputs.
It was a reference I read in a German review that was translated into English.
Maybe something was lost in the translation. -

Yeah, that must be it. SACD is already digital and can be passed thru HDMI.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ok, I get it, doh!
I had it in the older format but did not know that it was now available thru HDMI.
Does one delivery system sound better than the other? -
There is no older SACD format, it's been the same since it came out. The HDMI pass thru is a function of the player, not the format.Political Correctness'.........defined

It isn't the disk that does the HDMI, it is the player. You need an SACD player that supports HDMI; for example the Sony XA5400ES. Whether it sounds better or not depends on whether the DAC/analog section in the receiver (probably an AVR) sounds better than the DAC/analog in the SACD player.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -

And one that's HDMI v.1.2 or later. The earlier version(s) of HDMI will not transmit SACD's native bitstream, DSD. HDMI v1.2 came out about 5 years back, but there was no SACD player available at that time with HDMI that can transmit DSD. SACD over HDMI is more of a recent thing, especially amongst inexpensive players. -

That should be a huge clue.Political Correctness'.........defined

....that SACD via analog outs is better than DSD converted to PCM via player or receiver?ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place
