Lesson one we all know:
If it's too good to be true it is.
This is always something that I have wondered about:
Is it... "If it's to good to be true, it is. (too good to be true)... or is it... "If it's too good to be true, it isn't. (true) -
The new thing here in houston is to list the model number of the POS speakers in a craigslist ad, along with the name of an ACTUAL speaker company. I saw a listing on craigslist for an "Axiom Audio Epic 60-600 System". The guy wanted $1200. I texted the guy back and forth and finally set up a meating. I drove about 45 minutes to Katy, where the guy texted me that he was on his way. When he drove up he had fake Versace glasses on and crappy flea market gold, driving a Ford escape. Instantly I was like, "hmmmmm...I wonder how he fit that whole system in that POS". I let it play out a little longer until he opened the back to reveal a box the size of a decent LCD TV with "Epic 60" markings all over it. I instantly started shaking my head, pissed that I had driven out of my way for this BS. I explained to the guy that I was unaware if he was being a douchebag on purpose or by accident but either way he would not be getting my money and left.Living Room

They were advertising Polk speakers on CL
with a picture that clearly wasn't a Polk.
I flagged it every time. He then started listing it
as a Paradigm. These lowlifes are amazing."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

As far as the "if it seems to good to be true, it probably is...", if I lived by this thought process, I would not have gotten my Synthesis Three system for $700, Lsi9s for $300 (back when they were selling used for $600), and my XPA-5s for less than half price. I guess what it comes down to is survival of the fittest. I am in no way defending these losers, but we as a people need to smarten up.Living Room

Literally almost pulled a gun on two white van guys a few weeks ago. I'm at an empty gas station by myself at night, getting out of my truck. Two guys come flying up in a van, come to a screeching hault next to me and the driver points and says "Him!". The passenger gets out and comes running (no bs actually running) up to me in a dark parking lot. I had a gun in my door and put my hand on it, and he looks at me and says "hey bro we're in a hurry but i've got the best speakers ever made in the back of my van!". Obviously told him to F off and he got back in the van, but man I didn't know how aggressive these guys can get!
