I want to start with I'm not sure this is the correct place for this thread, I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong area. I'm buying a very high end collection tomorrow, with the collection is a pair of KLH Model 9's. I will buying the 9's but don't have a need for them. I will be paying $700-$900 for them depending on how the deal is structured. If anyone in this club has interest I will pass them on for what I payed. I will not ship these and I live in Syracuse, N.Y. send me a PM if you have interest. Again if this should have been in the FOR Sale section I'm sorry.

Yeah - I'd like to have them.... but !

If i still had my SDA 1C studios I'd trade you straight across for them ;)

KLH 9s are a bit 'legendary', not sure there are many of those floating around. I've actually never heard these...but there is a lot of talk about them. Though SDA 1Cs are great speakers they're not a straight trade for a set of 9s.

I'm sure there are some guys that would love a set of these. You may, though, have to invest a little to bring them up to speed from what I gather...unless someone's done that already!

Anyone owned a set? I know there are a couple of people here who 'have'?

I don't know what to think about that offer. These were offered thinking I was being a good club member, maybe I'm placing to much value on these. At one time these were reviewed as the closest thing to perfect speakers at any price. I'm I making a bad buy?

    All kidding aside - I'm sure they're worth 700 - 900 USD.

I saw a pair or two go on ebay a year or so ago, but don't remember the exact going price. They were in florida and seconding what you and cnh said they are quite rare.

I would love to have a pair of them myself but they are way outa my price range.

Good luck with the purchase / rehab / sale etc.

I'd wait for some of the old timers on this one. But those speakers supposedly cost a small fortune in their own time. Personally, I don't think that's too much for them. But maybe someone knows something I don't.

I'd also search over on Audiokarma.com where there are probably 'extensive' threads on these that might give you an idea for what problems they may have and what a good price is?

George Grand could probably discourse on these!

Thanks cnh, I would love to get some more thoughts on these. The 9's are just a side deal for a huge tube deal, I thought given there history they might be of interest to one or more of the members hear. My research shows these selling for much more than what I'm paying.

Considering a lot of the old timers don't usually troll at 10pm on my bet is you will hear more this morning.

That aside, KLH 9's were well liked in the Audiophile world but I am unsure how many were sold back in the day as they were quite expensive back in the late 60's. Over a grand if I am not mistaken. Don't expect to shake the house or ear bleeding form them, but if you want well defined open sound they are still hard to beat.

As for the asking price, they are definitely worth 7-900 if they are in good working order. I would hate to try and fix them that's for sure.

Personally I would go Maggie or Apogee before them, but for nostalgia sake they are very cool and an early model for what was to come.

Thanks Joe08867, of all the gear in this collection the 9's are keeping me from sleeping. I'm going to drop a lot of money today and if I knew I could move the 9's in a month or two, I would feel better about them. If I had a place in my house to set these up and use in my two channel rig, I would keep them. I just don't have the room or a man cave to show these off.

I don't think they would be a quick sell item personally.

But if they work good you could probably resell them for 1000+. Might make storing them worth the effort.

    I wouldn't buy without a listen though.

wayne3burk, those aren't mine the ones I grabbed are in mint condition. I've got them paired with a Crown DC300 and they just sing. After spending some time with them, I don't know if they will ever be sold.

Sounds good to me. Maybe you'll still have them when and if I have time to 'visit'? lol
