cdp not tracking

I have a Denon 1940ci cd/dvd single play machine that might be one the way out.Yesterday I tried to load a disc and it just wants to start at track 10 for some reason but worse it doesn't seem to go into reverse to bring it back down to track 1.I know it's an entry level device and cost me $87 in the package I bought at the time but it's still pretty important because I use it between my h/t w/ hdmi cord and 2 chl w/ analog rca cords.So I did try to do the pu/pd that old gag but no resetting of anything here. So do you guys know of anyother way to rectify this or is it time for the old trash can.If that's the case could you steer me for a combo single play machine that's hdmi, optical,and of course analog compatible.Also no need foe blu/ray or 3d and budget would be minimal .
