I read Stereo Review in the 80's and 90's, but was never excited about the magazines. Loved the beautiful photos though, and the stories about companies. Noticed that J Hirsch liked everything he heard, and even when it did not measure well he said that it sounded awesome in spite of what the test equipment showed. So I never took their reviews as credible, but I still loved flipping through their magazine.

personally i learned more out of Stereophile from that time period, and gravitated to the affordable gear they offered. So I owned things like a Cyrus integrated amp, Systemdeck turntable, and Spica speakers. Shame that magazine has fallen by the wayside too.

    Regards

I still remember my first copy of Stereo Review when I was 14. I learned so much from their magazines. I still have a bunch of issues from back in the day.
