For those who live in Southern Arizona, you are already aware that we tend to change seasons over night--it's pretty darn cool today in SV, makes me wonder if the monsoons (though pitiful this year) are on their way out...

That's cool, I've been itching to have my first firepit fire of the year anyway--nothing like knocking down suds to a warm fire, on a crisp clear Arizona night.

Wes, Bill, Stuwee, Avalanchefan, Rivvrat, Courtney--Bev & I 's calendar is pretty empty this fall, we'll see if we can organize a meet this fall. Stay tuned....

Unbelievable how dry Texas has been this year...what a shame, hopefully things will look better this fall.

Yeah, I'm diggin' it  and I'd love to meet you folks! It's Hatch green chili season Yum! I can bring some food, brewskis and maybe the Onix for a shootout.

We had a nice rain this morning here in town, now the sun is out and it's getting muggy, more storms tonight maybe...Saturday night was a hoot, I haven't seen that much lightning in years, we got over 2 inches at my place.

I went for an early supper with a friend at 5pm, it was just starting to rain, pouring buckets at 6:30 when we left, Speedway was a river, down to one inside lane out of 3 in most spots. 8:15 now and still rainin', nice and cool out, I'm gonna sleep like a baby tonight!

The big high over texas is moving east, some of this rain should get into west Texas, but I think Dallas and Austin are still out of luck :frown:

We were 4 inches behind to date down here, these last couple storms should help erase most of that, Yea!!

In Southern Az, anything below 80 is considered chilly.

Right now, Tucson is running about 10-12 degrees warmer--but come winter, that gap lessens.

Kind of thought that. But, it is a dry heat so I assume you do not have that high level of humidity.

Hehe, for us desert rats any dew point over 50 degrees is damp, 55 is down right muggy ! When we get in the 60's we start cutting gills in our necks to breathe , I lived in Texas for awhile and Houston about killed me in August. I'm a true desert rat now, I love it out here, magical place

It's building up again , Las Vegas and the deserts in southern CA got pounded this morning, and now it's heading for us

I didn't think this deserved it's own thread, so I'll post this here.

We're getting winds from Minnesota and Ottawa right now. I woke up this morning, went to my office and started noticing a burning smell in the air outside and in our plant. A lot like plastic burning, but with a mix of camp fire.

Across the street a major manufacturer has been getting their roof redone for the better part of three weeks. I figured the smell was from that.

I get an e-mail from my girlfriend in the afternoon asking me if I smelled the burning when I got up this morning. I didn't, but told her I could smell it at work which is about 25 miles southeast of where I live. She thought the house was on fire because we had all the windows open. Said it was really smoky outside when she was taking pictures of a house for her insurance employer.

Turns out that there's a 60,000 acre wild fire burning in northern Minnesota at the Boundary Waters.

It's crazy how far that smoke traveled. I'm in SE Wisconsin near Milwaukee which is about 9 hours north and west of where this fire originated.

The temps have dropped from the upper 80s to the 50s in a day.
