I saw an ad on CL today for a Harman Kardon amplifier. The model number wasn't listed and the only specs the seller mentioned was that it was rated at 85 watts x 4. His asking price was only $40 and he was less than 20 minutes away.

I picked it up earlier this evening and it turned out to be the highly regarded PA-5800. It's a 5 channel amp, 85 watts x 5, 115 watts @ 4 ohms. Stereophile apparently rated this amp a bit higher - 90 watts @ 8 ohms and something like 155 watts @ 4 ohms. http://www.audioreview.com/cat/amplification/amplifiers/harman-kardon/pa-5800/prd_115822_1583crx.aspx

I have it hooked up to my center and surround channels and it seems to work perfectly. I'll hook it up to my fronts tomorrow and see it how it compares with my Adcom.

For $40, I think I did pretty well.
