Speakers need to be level?

Hi,

Got 3 new Polk speakers.

Is it critical for speakers to be as level as possible, like on a horizontally (or vertically like on a wall) level surface? Like do I have to use a level (bubble) on them?

Just curious if the driver/coil would not be as free moving, if the enclosure is not level...

Thanks

Since the drivers and coils are mostly round, it probably doesn't matter much. If they are tilted forward or backward (front spikes on, rear spikes off, or vice-versa) it can ever so slightly affect the time sound from each speaker reaches your ear. Some manufacturers design their speakers in just that manner to make the sound from all speakers reach your ears at the same time.

I would be more concerned with keeping my CD and DVD player level.

Just hang them as you would a picture. The voice coil is not affected by being uneven or even turned sideways. The diaphrams and voice coils of both drivers are not anywhere near heavy enough to be affected by gravity. Is that enough peace of mind for you?

As far as a CDP goes, as long as the disc is locked to the sled, you could hang it upside down. Even if it's not level it will play fine but naturally, why would that even be the case?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
