# 4tc ( black and blue version) bare ends. For 160.00. Newbie as far as higher grade cables. I think these are entry level high end. What are they worth used in good condition, and are they worth buying?

Price seems a little high to me for used; especially the non-terminated 4TC. As affordable as PBJ/4TC are, you might consider just buying new. Both are great values even at retail.

Seems to high to me as well. I am a huge fan of Kimber Kable's.

    I prefer 8TC over the 4tc and 12tc.

I'm happy with my 8TC's. terminated with banana's and used, they cost only a few bucks more than the 4's here.

I had PBJ's/4TC for awhile, then later went to Hero/8TC. I've been running those for quite a few years and have never felt a need to move to anything else.

Having said that, I would have been perfectly happy with the PBJ/4TC combo. FWIW, I noticed more difference between PBJ/Hero than I did between 4TC/8TC..but even that was quite subtle, and really just amounts to which tonal character you prefer.

Remember, "before" the speaker terminals there are just "regular" fuses (thin wire). so I would not pay that much for "exotic lunar" material wires.

I don't know that PBJ/4TC qualify as "exotic lunar material" but I'll take the compliment.

Even Though I own Bryston amplifier, I would never spend $$$ in exotic cables.

Never understood why it has to always be about crazy amounts of money. You can grab used cables for 30-50 bucks. Hardly uber expensive and normally will get the job done. No one is telling the op to spend thousands and told him it was over priced already. Just because YOU wouldn't buy it doesn't mean the op can't try it. Let him form his own opinion with his ears and gear.

    Because we can?

Everybody "geeks out" at a different level with any hobby, no?

Some people buy a brand new Corvette, have the engine pulled and totally hot-rodded. Other owners are content with the stock setup. Will either Corvette get you work? Yup.

Personal choice, just that simple. No need to justify it, explain it, or categorize it. It is what it is. Why be so preoccupied with what other people do? If it's not your cup of tea, move along.

I don't understand why people put thousands of dollars of audio equipment in cars--but you don't see me bitchin at them about it, because it's what they choose to do--and guess what, it isn't any of my damn business.

I consider Cables the fine wine of audio.

You can get some 5.00 box wine or you can get a nice bottle of vintage wine.

Both will get you drunk but one will do it with better flavor and the other will just give you a headache.

+5 different strokes for different folks. different passions, different budgets, different ears. I always thought expensive cables were a profit center for retailers stuck with competitively narrow margins on big ticket stuff. maybe the gear I had then wouldn't reveal the difference? I don't know, but when I upgraded my electronics, I was shocked at what I heard when my friend said, "you think so, well try these" I kept the cables and gave him the $$.

    Corvettes? I don't know....:wink::biggrin:

What fun is a hobby that you can't tweak things along the way? Right?
