OK Boston, when are the Red Sox going to get it in gear?

Somebody needs to boot the Yankees out of the division top spot and force them to the Wild Card. You're only 2.5 games back with plenty of time left. Quit **** around and put the Yankees to bed already. I don't want to see those butt nuggets in the World Series again.

umm... the Bosox were in gear... but they seemed to slip into "neutral" even a bit before the Bankers... umm, Yankees... came into town. Other than last night (for example), the poor Sox've been kinda sleepy lately.

And poor effing Wakefield is just cursed...

The Bambino is probably guzzling some hooch, gnawing on a cigar, and laughing loudly in that hot, hot place to which he went for the eternal off-season...

Ugh, Jesus, didn't that Bambino crap die in 2004? Shaughnessy should be drawn and quartered for inventing that nonsense.

And us Sox fans don't do ourselves any favors when we point out the Yankees payroll, just sayin'

The Sox started out so horrifically this season, and somehow turned the ship around, I don't put anything past them at this point. Patience, patience.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I am as optimistic as any Red Sox fan :-)

Were I meaner-spirited, I would wish ill upon the boys from New York...

With that philosophy... you could be a Red Sox fan, too. Or an O-rioles fan, for that matter :-)

I'm a Phillies Phan and the Mets are against my religion but during the Subway Series a few years ago, I was wearing the orange and blue, loud and proud!

Mrs. H is a born and raised Mets (and Jets) fan... the year of 1969 is pretty much an off-limits conversation topic at our house (although, I guess, we could talk about Woodstock).

As the boys say, patience, patience. We were at a Sox game about a month ago (they lost, of course). That said. You can't really live anywhere from Eastern Connecticut up and root for NY! That's a No No up here.

But as I am originally from Eastern Pa.--I have to admit that I do watch an occasional Phillies game, and having gone to grad school in NYC--anyone can tell you that the team that most grad students in NY follow is 'not' the Yankees, but the Mets! Is that sad or what?

In any case, I'm more interested in Football. The dream game occurred a number of years ago: New England vs. the Eagles. That was rough for me, now a New Englander, but eternally waiting for an Eagles Superbowl win! But now I'm off topic.

The Sox have enjoyed a rich tradition of playing pretty good ball. As a Yankees fan, I really enjoy the rivalry. Simply put, the Yanks are a better team but those Sox are ALWAYS nipping at our heels and every series with them is a nail-biter!

So the Phillies swept the Braves last night and put them 10.5 games back. If the Phils can, in the next 23 games, pull that lead to 15.5, no one will be able to unseat them at the top of the NL. Phils have 4 with the Brewers in Milwaukee, 3 with the Astros in Houston then a double header at home with the Marlins then 4 at home with the Cardinals then 4 with the Nationals starting off with a double header then 3 at the Mets house then a trip for the last 3 in Hotlanta with the braves. There are no more days left in the season without at least one Phillies game being played. That's a bit of a concern. Especially with a fairly beat up set of starters. Phils need to clinch that top spot asap so they can rest the team for the playoffs.

They are only 9 wins away from a 100 win season too.

All the more reasons to keep him on the bench at 199 :-P
The other nights 1-0 loss was a tragedy but the game 2 nights ago always puts a smile on your face. Like every year, it will come down to the final stretch between the loved Sox and the sons of bastardized mother'd Yankees. This is when baseball is at it's best.

Last night was a good example :-(

I am just afraid that the poor guy will retire or even succumb to old age before he wins another game... and that would be too bad.

I never underestimate the Red Sox ability to blow it down the stretch. I think we're looking at a repeat of 2009. Texas, Detroit, and Boston will not get past the Yankees, and Milwaukee, Arizona, and Atlanta won't get past the Phillies. Yankees vs. Phillies in the World Series. Phillies are a tougher team than they were in 2009, though, their rotation is insane. Yankees will have a tougher haul this time, but they can do it. Ring #6 for Derek Jeter coming soon...
