I was bored...

Since I am not a loudspeaker designer is there anything inherently wrong with this design?

If this ever become a reality the corners would be rounded over....

    Thats kind of the idea...

The idea would be you could angle the top and bottom woofers to the center point...

Seems like it would be easy, yet tedious to build

    I'd look at another design.

    What's in the rounded corners?

Are you talking 6 separate cabinets with spikes between them or one cab?

It looks cool but optimizing the cabs in a multiple cab setup could be tricky.

    Also looks kinda like this:

They would be roughly 6 feet tall.

The depth is where it would get large...

Im guessing it would be close to 2 ft deep

MTM's limit the size of the soundstage, IMO. Try MTW or TMW. Any idea on drivers, slopes, etc...

I wanted to use my drivers from my Super Towers - since the crossovers are external it would be super easy to integrate a 3-way into it and just mess around with stuff...

Not sure - just was bored

Getting a little more serious about this -

And by serious I bothered to load up my driver specs in Win ISD and model some enclosures

Funny this driver has horrible bass response when you throw multiple of them in a tower, running my super tower specs in Win ISD the -3ddb is 80hz and the -6db is 35hz... ouch. No wonder it sounds a little anemic.

Now going with my multiple small box concept....

I put one driver in a small... 35 l box tuned to 35hz with dual 1.5" ports, like 7.5" long and there is a dip at around 50hz down to -3db and it spikes up at 35hz to have a -2db at 35hz..

So I am guessing the ports will start to output some sound at that point. Which with rear firing ports and a reasonably low port mach (according to Win ISD) that actually should be ok, should give it some good "loading"

One thing my Taylos had that my Super Towers do not is bass, my Taylos drivers would move at a million miles a hour and almost jump out of the box and I can hardly get the Super Towers thumping...

I am strongly considering once things clear up on my end building one of these - just one to compare left to right...

    Thoughts?

I could see making two larger boxes that are separated internally into two to keep depth down.

That would also allow me to change my ports up - could use dual 2" ports... that would put me at... .03 mach

If I drop the size of the enclosure down to 27l it gets rid of the 35hz spike which brings the -3db flat from 35-50hz.

    You must be hyper-active.LOL

You just can't relax for very long, can you.

I like watching your project threads and really like to see this but it sounds like you might go easier.

    GLWTB or P......builds or projects...:-)

The problem with doing four individual enclosures they would be over 26 inches deep...

So I was thinking I could make two larger enclosures - with individual enclosures inside

Also toying with the idea of making the two drivers closest to the tweeter sealed and the ones above and below it vented - seemed interesting... Obviously at that point I would have to make it a 3 way

The cool thing is MDF is cheap so it would be easy to experiment...

Also wanted to say that I like the way my Super Towers sound - infact, love it - just wish they had more bass on their own... and I know they can do it...

But worst case scenario is I never do this and just rock subs! lol
