Would you believe that the seller of these speakers sent me a nasty PM over at AK. He was actually mad that I mentioned in this thread that he snagged those SDA's for "stupid cheap".
I am the one that tried to help him out with some info about them in the first place. AND told him I would ask here about them, which was another thread before this one.
Some people. Try to help them and they pi$$ on ya.
So who got these anyways?--Gary--

What douchebag...............trying to make a HUGE profit and he's the one pissy. Karma's a ****, perhaps he shouldn't be buying and selling on public forums and auction sites.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
Actually Brock...Audio Karma is a ****....WHAAAAH WHAAAAH. There was a member on here who bought off his local Craigslist and resold it on here, for twice the money, the next day. Well, let's say he used to until I busted him and suggested he at least wait until it drops off the list and the city he lives in first. Sheesh, talk about painfully obvious.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with finding items elsewhere, cleaning them up, fixing them, upgrading them perhaps, testing them and re-selling them here....but at least do something for that price increase and keep it reasonable. If you're here to get rich, you came to the wrong place or be ready for the long haul.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? I am not going to spend to much time with this but I am the speaker owner, and this was my response:
None of this is true with the exception of owning them for a short period of time.
I told you that I would probably sell them when I found them.
I also told you that I found another pair of speakers that I prefer.
Comments like the one above are not appreciated.
Don't bother responding. I will delete your response.
My response was in response to a comment made by this person in this thread.
Yes, $400 for an unusual speaker that people have created two different threads for is a high price,
I am finished. Best of luck. -
After looking at these a little more closely these were definitely prototypes. What used to happen was that at slow times limited runs of drivers could be made using different voice coils, spiders, surrounds etc. They probably made about 12 to 24 of the drivers for lab use. The experimental array was cut in the baffle in the woodshop most likely by Bill R. Lab prototypes like these were sold off periodically. Looks like someone took good care of them. Cheers.
Thanks for the info, it is appreciated.

2750, if you are going to buy and sell audio gear online you'd better develop some thicker skin! Not a single thing I said in this thread was demeaning to you or your "rare" speakers! If I had bought then for $40, I would have been ecstatic!
IF you remember, I am the one that told you I would post your speakers over here at CP to get the experts opinions. I suggested you eBay them cause I knew there where members here that were very closer to you. I tried to help you determine some history on those speakers.
So I am sorry if you got offended. And if you need them I will drop a box of tissues in the mail to you. Please PM me your address.--Gary--

Nooshinjohn posted what he bought his Sansui gear for openly on our forum, and that didn't stop somebody from paying what they were worth at all.:cool:Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

Why there was any need to come here and post, I have no idea. We're very happy you sold them and have moved on.
No one is going to PM you, don't worry honey. Since you're done here and with us and since we're so awful, I'll see if we can just go ahead and get you deleted from the rosters. I'm sure you won't mind as you've stated you are "finished".
Good luck.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Too bad things turned out this way. I was looking forward to seeing them in the building. Oh well, keep posting these finds. Maybe we'll hit on something else. Cheers.

The collection consists of various speaker models Polk has made over the years. If I read this correctly, Mark was going to add this pair to that collection that resides at Polk HQ. It is in the hallway in between the lunchroom and teleconference room. I am not sure of all the models but there are various vintages including one made by George Klopfer and Matthew Polk that was a pro sound speaker. I hope this helps, Mark may have a detailed list of all the models. Cheers.
