Epik Sentinel Subwoofers (Pair)

I have 2 Epik Sentinel Subwoofers. They perform flawlessy and I don't really want to sell them, but I have another purchase I need to fund, so they need to go! These subs are excellent in home theater and even work well in 2 channel music because they are still very fast and tight for a ported sub. I have used them in both applications and liked them for both. They are in mostly good condition. The subs have some light scratches in the tops from when they were stacked on top of each other. One of the subs the Auto/On switch was sheared off. It came that way to me from the factory, but it has worked perfectly since day one. Just to be safe, I spoke with Chad at Epik and he told me how to bypass it internally, which I have done. Just wanted to have full disclosure. I have attached pictures of both of the subs and one ding I noticed on the corner of one sub.

These subs are still selling for close to $600 each on Audigon and were right at $850 new. The Polkie price on these for the pair is $900 + shipping. I will split them, but only if I have committed buyers for each first. I have all the original expanding/molded foam packaging for both subs.

Don

Here is a link to a PDF of the original web page from Epik to list all the details.

GLWTS Don, I am probably out.

The wife however assures me when we get a house I can have a couple subs as big as I want... (she has no idea how much trouble she's in now )

If this was another month down the road I would buy these and work out the shipping.:(

Good luck with sale. Seems only the old Epik models were the good ones.

This model was replaced by the Epik Empire and according to the manufacture the Empire bests this sub by a bit, and its in the same pricepoint for MSRP, hence why it was no longer smart to sell the Sentinel.

BUT with the price being offered here, its a no brainer to snatch both them up as its not much more than the cost of a SINGLE empire. I am not sure how this stacks up against one of the Legends.....

I will say this, if you look at the motor structures and baskets on the new subs compared to the sentinel, the new ones look like toys IMHO :D Attached are some pictures of the drivers...

The first is the Empire, then Legend, then the last 2 are the Sentinel. The motor on the Sentinel belittles the motors on the Legend, and at least meets, if not bests the Empire also. I also much prefer the design and material of the Sentinel basket... Honestly, the Sentinel driver VERY much reminds me of a 12" TC Sounds LMS R ... I tried to pry it out of Chad if they had TC Sounds build them drivers but he had no comment :D

These are excellent subs and someone needs them!

I know the Empire will hold it's own. I've done A LOT of research for my next subs and regardless of Epik not shipping/supporting Canadian customers, I was considering a purchase but I've simply given up with reading of all the amp issues many users have with the Empire/Legends... read AVSforums and see how many people are now complaining about the poor customer service and equipment failures. I believe bsoko is also on this forum who gave up his Quad Empires for his new VMPS (I hope I spelt that right) subs.

I would love a set of Sentinel's as they wont be too big or too small for MY needs. I like the Epik name and they have produced some SOLID equipment. But the new stuff I just don't care for. And if I can't get what I want then I will look to maybe SVS, eD or Velodyne if not a DIY project.

    ...I still want these :frown:

Having had an Epik Legend in the house at one point I can attest to the fact its build quality is below average in almost every aspect from amp, woofer, enclosure - the grills are nice though.

You can do better for your money.

I am willing to bet the sub in this thread could easily hang with the Empire and then some.

Two cheap woofers do not equal one quality one - this is for sure.

I echo the TC Sounds sentiments! They look CLOSE!

Why all the bashing of Epik's Legend and Empire on this post for a sale? If people want to start trashing Epik's newer subs then start your own post and stop trashing this one. You will have many fans that will give you positive feedback ( I know a few including myself). So many who critisize have never owned them.
I have one Empire and one Legend and I love them both.(Using a antimode EQ with them) Never had any issues. The amp on the legend get's a little hot but not on the empire.
As far as Bsoko getting rid of his four empires from what I read he was not unhappy with the Empires just found a upgrade.

There is no "bashing" of Epik. We ALL know Epik makes GREAT subs. Others chimed in as well so don't bark at just me. Hell, I still would love to own one (or two) of their subs.

450 + shipping since he said 900 + shipping for both, or half the cost per each one.

Correct. I still think this is a great price. Less than what they are going for on Audiogon and it is a great sub.

You won't find another one at this price. I haven't seen them go for less than $550 recently.

First, this post is for a sale of two subs so it is not cool when people trash other peoples sales.
Second, I have been reading the Epik forum on AVS for a very, very, very long time. Why do you not mention all the favorible posts on that forum and all the people that have not had problems? And , when they did have a problem Chad, the owner of Epik, responded quickly. I have met Chad and he runs a small company and his responses sometimes have taken awhile. But there are many on there who he has responded to very quickly and they are very happy.
Third, Bill (bsoko2) boasted many times how he loved his quad empires. Look at page 553 where he was not disapointed in the empires, he just went for a upgrade with the VMPS sub.
Fourth, the amp has been redesigned, so let's give it some time before we judge and post. Unless you have personally been involved and own these subs and have had trouble dealing with Epik service do not be so quick to judge and post using other people's comments. If you do own them and have had problems dealing with Chad then I apologize.
