Lovely Labor Day

Had a inverse CokeWVanilla problem today. We have a neighbor whose boyfriend (whenever he is over) listens to lots of loud rap. Thats fine, I try to be a nice neighbor and just ignore it and consider that they may hear my setup at times (though my wife is quick to handicap any attempt for bass at night). I have my sub on a isolation platform, and raised a bit to keep energy from transferring to walls and shaking the room. They are not as nice.
After a couple banging on the wall attempts failed, my wife (who as John will tell you is a really nice, not a mean bone in her body kinda woman) comes to the office, looks at me and says "Take the sub, move it as close to their wall as you can, and turn ANY AND ALL BASS VOLUME TO MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!"
So with no delay (and a giddy look on my face) I did that (after turning off the Carver amp so we had ONLY bass)
And lo and behold after about 5 mins of apartment shaking/rattling of nasty boomy bloated bass (as its only a PSW125), their music turned off.
So my comment to her was this "Now think how much louder and annoying we could make it if we had BIGGER LOUDER subs :biggrin::biggrin:)..
Yeah, that dint work.... :frown: yet
It also showed me just how limited the PSW125 is, as well as how good the Auralex Gamma really is at keeping energy from transfering.....

Honestly if I wanted to "repay them" Opera woulda been my choice....with teh LSi 15's on at full volume....
Might "enlighten" them and confuse them though since there are no lyrics about "Getting paper..."Hahaha great story!Grab Don's LMS 5400.
I dont have the towing capacity for that bad boy lol......
I do have a 10" with 700 watts in my car though...maybe drive it up next to their window and open the trunk while I "clean" it out for a couple hours....
P.S. Tasha (my wife) laughed when I said I posted this and was like "You better have given ME the credit for this"... and then demanded to read the post to ensure I did so.
Needless to say shes giggling reading your responses next to me...
I got a pic I will post here in a few of how ghetto it looked lol..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Ha ha, cool story. I had a neighbor who watched really loud bass laden movies every night, really didn't bother me so long as he was having fun. I sometimes played my system loud but only for a few minutes at a time. I purchased these 4 18" kicker subs in boxes (which I only did because they were going for nothing from the local electronics shop owner)) and they had been sitting in my basement for two years. One night I decided to power them up with a few thousand watts (yeah, a few beers were at fault, nothing to do with the neighbors). Funny, I never heard a peep from them again after that. I can tell you, they had to have had the "stadium quality bass" experience. All I remember is things falling off the shelves all over the house. As I remember I even hurt my knee from the massive shake of the floors. From the neighbors point of view I'm sure this was like taking a military tank to a fist fight. Never drink before powering up the subs. :biggrin:Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
