Decided to get the Yes album off of HDtracks - "Roundabout" and "long distance runaround" have been favorite songs of mine since I was a kid, but never heard this album.

This is one of those albums that really makes me appreciate my LSi9s and the new Micropro 2k sub ;) The mix of rock, classical arrangements, and guitar work sounds amazing! One of those times where I'm enjoying "hearing" the music as much as listening to it.

Great album too btw. These days, I seem to be marching backwards in time music-wise more than fwds.
ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place :(

This seems to be happening to me as well. Hell man, some days I get up and drop some Glenn Miller on the platter.:cool:

Congrats on grabbing that one. Yes has become one of my favorites.

Absolutely phenominal album! I still need to get the SACD, and you should too guys. Eddie Offord makes YES' music sound phenominal! So, when you hear it in higher sound quality it sounds much cleaner than some other bands.

It's not high resolution (i.e. 24/96, etc) but you should absolutely get THE YES ALBUM on mobile fidelity gold CD. You can get it here:http://www.amazon.com/Yes-Album-MFSL-Gold-CD/dp/B003IMERWY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315201843&sr=8-1.

I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the sound quality on this CD. I have owned every other version this CD, and vinyl and this CD blows them all away, NO KIDDING!!

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

That MoFi gold CD looks yummy, I still prefer my R/C inside the S in the deadwax Atlantic Lp tho. the album was very well recorded to begin with, since I finally got a nice CDP and some Audio Alchemy DAC gear comming soon to demo, I'm looking for great Cd's of the classics to spin.

@headrott - yeah that CD looks very tempting. Need to get myself a CD player one of these days first. I have a MFSL CD of Dire Straits' Love Over Gold too, that is just sitting there.

The 'Fragile' album appears to be very well recorded as well. If I could get Jethro Tull's 'Thick As a Brick' in hi rez ..mmmm.

I'd add Magnification in there as well, both versions have pluses, I like the later 2004 with Close to the Edge live on the 2nd disc

Please don't forget "Tales From Topographic Oceans". IMO, the best album ever written and recorded.

HDtracks.com is an online hi-res music store - everything is CD quality FLAC or higher. In recent months they've added a good bit of classic rock music. Otherwise, it's mostly jazz, classical, world, etc.

I was fortunate to see them back in the early seventies--what a show,,when they came on stage,,the crowd was full of anticipation,,,and no one was disappointed,,being there was an experience,,it was like you were taken away and gently returned to the venue after two hours,,,what an experience.

Then, 6 hours later you finally came down . I first saw Yes at Winterland SF in 1971 as the 2nd act behind Black Sabbath. They hadn't released Fragile yet, but they played it and the Yes Album. After seeing them, BS, which had been a favorite got pushed down quite far on music I had to find out about. I saw them once or twice a year until the 80s when my kids came. Wakeman left, Moraz came in, Anderson left and the abortion "Drama" was produced. They all came back together a few times and I bought a few of their later albums, but they put magic in the bottle with YA, Fragile and Close to the Edge...never got better. Going for the One has Awaken on it...maybe their most awe inspiring song and Magnification is very good. It's just that the creative juices that were flowing when they were in their late 20s could never be repeated.
