Stock Jumpers

So these stock metal plated jumpers should be replaced? Is that What I gather? If so...

I just take a spare piece of wire, strip it, and clamp it with the screw downs? pos-pos and neg-neg? Anything else special I need to do and or worry about?

And I possible maybe a picture? I'm a visual learner...
