Hi,
I have a pair of RTiA1's bookshelf speakers and a PSW11 and an Onkyo TX8255 50W/ch stereo rcvr.
I have all of them in the about 25' x 12' living room of my townhouse.
I know the sub settings depend on the surroundings and placement, but could you give an optimum initial settings for my sub? I also assume Phase should be at 0?
TIA for any reply.

I had that same subwoofer and a pair of RTi4's (predecessor to RTI A4) for a week or so while waiting for towers, and i set the speakers to small, and set the crossover to 70hz with my receiver, connected by a digital coaxial cable. It sounded just fine.
Set the phase to whatever sounds better to you. FYI - i had mine set to normal. -
Pogi, welcome to Club Polk. Since your TX8255(along with nearly all other stereo receivers)has no bass management provisions to blend the sub and speaker frequencies, you'll have to adjust the low-pass filter on the PSW111 to roll it off above at about the same frequency where the RTiA1s roll off naturally. The Polk spec for the speaker shows 60Hz as the point where it's 3dB down, so set the PSW111 low-pass at about that same number.
The volume control on the PSW111 should be turned up slowly from the minimum until you get good blended bass, but not so high that it becomes boomy or makes the sub too obvious as a separate sound source.
Yes, the Phase should be generally set at 0 if the sub is located near the main speakers, but try both settings to see which gives better bass. If there's little difference, leave it at 0. -
Thanks for your replies guys. Very helpful for my setup...
