I'm trying to figure out who, if any, rental co. has the best rates
And yes, I'm a member of AAA.
TIA

Not exactly what you're asking...but good info to know anyway...
9 times out of 10, your auto insurer covers your rental car...so dont buy the 'extra coverage'.
Also, make sure the car is clean when you get it. Had a friend of mine rent a car and it was dirty. They came back and all of a sudden the company pointed out all these dents and dings and chips that 'werent there before'...when all he did was drive it around town.
So make sure the car is clean and you take note of all damages prior to leaving the lot.

Thanks for the link Bob.
And yes, I should def. do a walkaround b-4 signing anything.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
AAA usually gets me better discounts on the weekends. The company I work for, their code seem to work better during the week.
I usually rent form Hertz. You didn't mention when your renting. A good rule of thumb is the cheapest rental cars will be somewhere where they avoid the concession fees and other taxes. It won't be as convenient, and will take more time but it will be cheaper.
For an overall rental cost comparison try using orbitz. Then go to the company specific site and see which discount works the best.

Avoid renting from airport locations, they usually have extra taxes, last time I rented out of O'Hare I got hit with something like an 18% airport tax. Cody is sort of right, if you carry full coverage on one of your own vehicles, it should extend to your rental. If you don't own or don't carry full coverage your SOL if you wreck it. He's very correct about the damages, make sure you walk around it with your rep and all the damaged areas are addressed before drive off.

Yeah, I've done a little research, and found there are like an additional $100+ in fees to rent from an airport. Screw that!
It seems tha Orbitz does have the best deals.
I'm looking at renting a midsize, hopefully a Sonata. This car has piqued my interest, and a simple test drive around the block, prolly won't give me the full picture, so a road trip will kill 2 birds.
My '02 S10 would most likely make the trip no problem, but I am curious about the Sonata, so...I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
The sonata is not a midsize.....the elantra is.....when you go to pick it up sit there and ask them what the chances are that they upgrade you etc...and I think you'll have less luck getting upgraded at the smaller regional locations than the airport type of places.
I drive the sonata all the time as a rental and the only complaint I have is that the front suspension is clunkier that that of toyota or honda. Drive over some choppy roads to see what I mean.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
