Monitor 11's

Thanks to Dave Muellenberg for picking these up and letting me swap some cables for them. I've always wanted to hear these, and finally have a chance. Interesting sort of 'transistional' speaker between the Monitor 10 and the RTA12. I didn't even realize these had a cascaded crossover, with a dedicated left and right speaker.

Now if I hadn't given my last pair of Peerless to another Polkie....SL1000 in all its glory looks to be the order of the day. I will say that the SL1000 is a good looking tweeter, I like the silver/grey facia, and the black logo.

I know there aren't a ton of these out there, so I'll keep em, maybe get them slightly *cough* modded, but for now I'm just going to roll stock and check it out. Worth a $50 bill I thought.

Cheers,
Russ

gdb, thanks for looking out, but those are filthy. I'll get with someone about an RDO mod eventually.

Smithy, you know what, maybe I'll just show up and pummel him with a sack of hammers and just take the peerless back?

Russ, behind one of the drivers should be some acoustic foam. Check to see if it's still in good condition. In one of the 11's my father has (with Peerless) the foam had rotted to the point that it fell to the bottom. The foam in the other was almost as bad. I replaced both pieces.

Jesse, I'll crack em and check it out tonight.

Skipper, no hurry, I'm fine with hearing them as intended, good, bad, or ugly.

You know, after putting them through the ringer tonight, I don't know that Pink Floyd 'The Final Cut' ever really sounded this good. It's a tad tilted on the top end, but I get it, I hear what they were going for. I think I might leave these stock and just enjoy the sound. A copper stick for the fuse, maybe a single Sonicap on the tweeter and some rings on the 65xx's, but other than that, great speaker!
