Call me crazy but...

My audio budget really took a hit lately now that my wife is taking a 1 year leave off from work. But I am glad she will be staying home with our newborn daughter.

I recently sold my SVS sub and Emotiva amp to free up some funds. Now I am thinking of selling my LSi15's to fund buying a pair of LSi7's and a Rythmik DIY subwoofer kit. My system is in a fairly small room so I am thinking that the LSi7's will be able to fill the room and be able to handle the theater effects for the mains. I also think that the sub will be able to pick up any slack from moving from LSi15's to the LSi7's in the lower regions while listening to music. I still have my LSiC and LSiFX's to round out the system. I think another benefit of going to the LSi7's will be that it will lessen the strain on my SC-05 AVR.

Please let me know what your thoughts are or let me know if I am crazy.

Thanks in advance, but I am sure I am not the first one forced to downgrade.

How much money will you actually be gaining? Lsi7s are like 300 at least, and then you need stands. The sub is what, 500? I see the 15's sell for 700-900 all the time... I don't see you gaining much from switching

You said you sold your SVS.... Are you currently using another sub? If not, I would think you'd actually like the LSi7/sub combo better than the LSi15s with no sub for home theater. I think you might miss the LSi15s for music, but it certainly won't be an unbearable transition if you're actually going to save money.

Hmmm. Where are you located? I have thought about trading up my LSi9's or LSi7's to LSi15's before, but probably wouldn't want to deal with shipping.

I am currently subless, so that is the main reason for the change. I really notice a difference without it. The other goal is to minimize the out of pocket expense to get a sub so that is why I would have to sell the 15's.

I've run 7's, 9', and 15's as mains in my HT. IMO if you have a sub, the 15's are no better than either the 7's or 9's in an HT setup.

*My 15's are currently in my HT, but not because I think they are the best. New house required me to change things up a bit.
