Will you work on my crossovers?

I was considering a certain member to mod/update my SDA 2B crossovers, but it seems I should look elsewhere based on some well documented recent events. I have seen it mentioned several times that there are other CP members that may do this work for me.

So, if you are interested in helping me out let me know! I would love to attempt is as it does not seem to be rocket science and there's plenty of helpers here....but I've never soldered anything and don't want to make my crossovers my first attempt.
Yep, my name really is Bob.

You're right, it's not rocket science. My first crossovers were an SDA-1C, and they're not tremendously difficult to do as long as you think your way through it and don't rush. However, if you don't want to do them, I've done some work for other people, and am always happy to do more. Other than crossovers only, this is the last full project I did for someone else, to give you an idea. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116480

    Good luck!

Soldering is something I think we can all do, but not all of us can do it well the first go or two, and I didn't want to take chances on my crossovers either. Most everything else you can do. I certainly recommend having someone else do it. I personally used a polk member who has responded to your thread, and I am more than super happy pleased. The crossovers came back absolutely beautiful, and I knew I made the right decision.

Indeed. Here is a another link not quite finished yet:

    Geoff,

    Hey Larry,
Actually, those -1C's have been up in Canada for a little over 2 years. I sold them to Kelvin (Fongolio on the forum). As far as i know, he's been happy with them.

I have no issues with Sonic Barrier. I've seen recent mention of dissatisfaction with the adhesive backing. I suppose i agree with this, to a point. For me, it's not really a big issue; I'm going to attach it the way i want to attach it, anyway. In one of my speakers, I covered the insides with vinyl for vibration damping, and applied Sonic barrier on top of that (like a poor man's NoRez). It adheres just fine; so, I'm sure it's all about the substrate you're trying to attach it to.

I seem to also remember some discussion refering to the relative mertis of this stuff vs. NoRez vs. BlackHole5, etc. And, I've read through your impressions of varying amounts of the stuff in your speakers. For me, which product is best depends on (obviously) cost, what kind of results I'm after, the specific application, etc. For reducing internal reflections in a nicely braced midrange enclosure, for example, whose driver covers 600-3,000 Hz, I think 1" Sonic Barrier is great. I would not go to the unneeded expense of installing BH5 or maybe even NoRez. For a woofer enclosure that has little or no bracing, then i would stick with BH5, simply because that's what it's meant/designed to do.....assuming cost is not a factor.

So, that's a long-winded way of saying......I like the stuff, in the right application.

    Later,
