in the Northwest we don't have "weird" or big bugs.. which I'm happy about..
but on my bike ride today I saw thing odd fellow on the sidewalk. he was on his back so I turned him over and took it's picture.
the big yellow belly looks like a bee, but the front half of him/it looks like a queen grasshopper or something. either way, I poked it with a stick and ran like a little girl..

Wow, that thing is huge!

Very cool looking bug. Glad you set it free.
Don't know why a lot of people's first response is to kill a bug as soon as you see it. Says a lot about our species I guess. We would not be here without our little friends, like it or not. -

We had a wolf spider as big as my hand in the kitchen last month after a storm, Dale says he thought he killed it and it fell behind the stove, I stayed at Moms for the rest of the weekend, I was terrified it would crawl out with two broken legs dragging behind it looking for revenge on the hurterThorens TD125MKII, SME3009,Shure V15/ Teac V-8000S, Denon DN-790R cass, Teac 3340 RtR decks, Onix CD2...Sumo Electra Plus pre>SAE A1001 amp>Martin Logan Summit's -

Tater bug. I've had 'em roasted, on a stick. Satisfying and very high in protein. Put a mess of them in a blender. Makes an excellent gravy for your smashed potatoes.
