I finally got a replacement MW6502 (actually a pair and now have an extra) for my Monitor 5B. These things have not been played for a number of years and are becoming more sweet as they play. The bass in particular started rather muddy and is cleaning up nicely. I am quite surprised at the sound quality. The highs (SL-2000) are a little harsher than the Peerless tweeters in my 5A's and RDO198 in my RTA11TL's but still very listenable. The mids and bass are what really surprised me. While the 5A's are smoother on the top end, the 5B's seem to have better bass. Anyone else find this to be true?

I hope to do a comparison of the 5A, 5B and S8 in the near future.

I love my 5B's in my office rig. 5B's were my first Polks back in about 1984. I bought a used pair at the local hi-fi shop and soon after I bought a brand new pair of RTA-11T's and then ended up working at the hi-fi shop for a few years. Sold a lot of Polks back then and the SDA demo was a must for every customer that walked through the door. Those were the days!
