Got rid of my 4 dollar wire.....

Yes, it's true, I know we're all excited. So, I went to the Home Depot, LOL, and bought me some REAL RCA 16 gauge speaker wire! Yes, go ahead and razz me but I have to work within my budget. The 50 ft. spool of wire was about $22 for high quality, Chinese made, Stereo speaker wire. No corrosion in this high quality product, just 50 feet of pure audio bliss. Now, the rest of the story, this high quality 22 dollar wire was on sale for $4.98 of a 50 ft spool.

Yessirreebob, I grabbed me up a reel and made my way back to the trailer where I am now enjoying corrosion free sound.

Not bad for $5. Was the spool of wire on clearance at just your particular store or what? I could always use some extra wire.

There were about 4 or 5 rolls for that price, the rest were regular price.
I had to go out of town to visit that store but I was in town for another reason and just ran across that deal by a fluke. I guess just drop in your local store and see what you can find.

I really would like some Monoprice or BJC but since I care for 2 disabled people at my home, food and medicine take most of my money so I do what I can to provide a quality sound system.

I just ordered my 2nd pair of RTI4's from J&R today for 129.99 and they gave me free shipping. It's coming together SLOWLY but surely.

At least now I have my Bona Fided speaker cables.....

in the spirit of the topic, i have a quick question:

a few months ago i came upon a freak deal and grabbed up 200' of 10gauge speaker wire for $90...100% oxygen free copper....was this a good deal and is 10gauge too much?

    thanks

10ga. is not too much in my book. Depending on the quailty of the wire in question you got a steal of a deal. I bought mine at parts express and 200' cost me 100bucks 10yrs ago and then about 6yrs ago copper tripled in price.

im going to assume that the quality is pretty good... i got it from a co-worker who has a little side business of fabrication and install of car audio. its the same stuff he uses. the wire i was using before was really old and super thin and when i swapped it out for the 10gauge, the sound difference was noticeable to say the least.
