They were my first real speakers,,,
Maybe you think that because you have yet to own your first real speakers.
Just jackin' ya, mate.
In all seriousness, though, I owned a pair of AT-15's, and luckily for me, my eardrums survived intact!
They lasted one week in my system before I gave them away. I'm not sure how much of a "gift" it was for the recipient, but it was a free disposal for me!:biggrin:2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

I used to have some AT-12's and D-7's in the garage rig. Chest pounding bass with when driven with big amps!

Now that I think about it, mine were 12's too, not 15's.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

My buddy has a vintage pair that are really fun to listen to in his man cave.
-
I remember going to buy some pot when I was younger and the dealer had a huge set blasting 2 pac and I thought they were so cool and high end lol
-
Fan? That'd be a negatory. Boom and sizzle loudspeakers (most of them, at any rate).
Needless to say, that' doesn't mean there isn't a pair lurking here. -
-
Not a fan. But good for a party. Why blow up my SDA's when some AT-15's can boom all night.

Plus they've got red surrounds... how cool is that? -
MMMMMMMM Red Surrounds!!!!!!!!!

well let the bashing begin My first speaker i ever went so far as to get a loan for CV D7's. In the end i made some subs out of voice of the theater boxes 15" Eminence long throw woofers, sledgehammer inductors and made them sub/sat to my D7's subs handed off to the D7's @ 90hz. The D7's were modified in that the tweeter was a Peerless brand very smooth silk tweet. plus i re-capped the XO on the CV D7. for 25yrs i was in love....concert level Db's for sure and for the most part very flat response
-
So you made FrankenVega's? Sounds interesting, Very interesting.

Good garage or shop speakers. I have a pair of D-3's ( I think they are) out in my shop. Seen a chipmunk scurry out of one of the port holes the other day. Think he has a nest in there maybe.--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -

Speaker pros think of that as "damping". Lowers Fs. -
I still have an entire 5 speaker setup. It's not in use anymore but i still have them. Forget the model number but they had 8" subs with built in amps in each tower with i believe a 5.25 mid and a 1" high. I compared them to the rti and rtia lineup from Polk and honestly they sound an awful lot like those two lines. Slightly less sparkle from the highs which to me was a good thing. Certainly had more bass with powered drivers. The mids sounded good but on some tracks didn't bring quite as much depth but were pretty close.Living Room Rig:D

Any reason they put the mid and tweet off center from the woofer on some of the older Cerwin-Vega speakers? Makes for a very asymmetrical looking speaker with the grills off, even though the bass is excellent.
I really wish Polk Audio would make a home stereo speaker with the eqivalent bass presence of a CV speaker, but with same mid and tweeter sound of a Polk speaker. Or do they already have something like that? -
In all fairness to Polk. Polk bass is 'tight', 'controlled', and 'fast'. Whereas CV bass lacks all those qualities but has a lot of 'boom' and is very efficient. It's all a question of music reproduction and quality.
I remember auditioning a set of two way CVegas against some Bose 301s and some dB Plus (a house brand in the 80s probably made by Energy or a sub of it). And the dbs were what ended up in my apartment--they were only a 6" two way but a much better engineered and better sounding speaker.
Having said that though, the 15" CVs were the party speakers at many colleges back in the day...and there are good 'reasons' for that!

It's been a long time, but I had a pair of "big" CVs. Can't remember much about them but money was tight, they were big and rocked the old farmhouse we were living in outside Bloomington. I just did a quick search and found they're still in business. http://www.cerwinvega.com/ Perhaps their corporate mantra is, "As long as there are college kids, we'll always have a market."Marantz AV7005

I have a pair of Cerwin Vegas VS-100s If I want to get loud and aggressive I swap out the AR-18's and match them Vegas up with my AR-58's. I can rock the house and pretty much the whole neighborhood, if the neighbors get somewhat loud with the pop station crap they blare out of there bom box, I just give them a good dose of some megadeth pumping out those Vegas that seems to do the trick. I love my Polk stuff and for good non agressive stuff like Steely Dan or Supertramp the Polks sound the best, but when it comes to loud aggressive stuff the Vegas serve thier purpose.Home Theater

C-V's generally sound like a bag of cats.
That being said I have a gorgeous pair of AT-12 or something like that (12" three-way) that I'd love to part with. -
