Looking for an easy to use lighter

My dad's hands are crippled with arthritis and as much as I wish he would stop smoking it's not likely. It's painful for me to watch him try to light one up and wonder if there is an easy to use cigarette ligher on the market...preferably one that is push button? And, even better yet...one that will work in a breeze since he insists that he smokes outdoors only(we don't argue with that!).

So, how 'bout it you smokers...there must be one out there you have tried? I know a Google search will come up with some but I would rather hear from actual users if they are actually almost effortess to use.

I have used these for years for cigars and love them.I only smoke outside and this si great in the wind.Just be careful not to burn your nose!

Not sure how that thing works, but doesn't look like something you would keep in your pocket? Not sure he could handle 2 pieces?

That thing looks WAY too complicated and expensive. Torch lighters are very common nowadays, I'm sure if you go into any cigar shop or novelty store you'll find a bunch that will fit the bill, and for way less than 30 bucks.

Many of the cheap torch lighters have a setup where you need to roll the bic like flint roller and then hold down the button still
some are more difficult than others.
check out a shop but i can tell you this is easy and lasts years so you get what you pay for.He'll have more trouble with a POS lighter trust me.I've been smoking cigars for 15 years and this is the best for the money.

Lot's of options, just be careful, and let Dad know to handle them with care, I suggest a nice small box that he can keep it in, slip into his robe or jacket to take outside with. Some of these lighters are 'trigger happy' and can go off at improper times and burn him or his clothes at the wrong time. Just something to think about.

Get a good heat gun and an extension cord. Back in the old days, when I was an electronic technician, and smoked, that is what I used.

Could always get a bunsen burner, and have an eternal flame.

A 12v source + an auto lighter would only require minimum dexterity.

You might take a look at some of the Colibri lighters. They aren't cheap but I think you can find an electronic ignition one that would work for your Dad.

For instance the Jet II or maybe even the Legacy.

Most cigar / pipe shops carry them. That way you could get the feel of one and how it works before you buy.

Good old fashioned Zippo. You don't need fingers to light it, a quick zip across your pants to open it, another zip across to light it.

Or keep an eternal flame going for the old guy, like a patio torch. You'll help him and keep the bugs away at the same time.

I'll take a trip to the local smoke shop to try some of these out if they have them in stock. I did get him a Jet last year but he gave it away, could not operate it well.

The Monarch-Electro Touch has a button on the side of the lighter to ignite it. You would have to decide if opening the top would be difficult for him.

You might also consider an element lighter. The best view of the handheld one is at OZlite. There are YouTube videos about this one too. All depends on how easy it would be for him to hold the slide back. While your at the site, check out their flush mount 110v element lighters for the house.

That Monarch looks sweet. Opening the lid is just a brush against your clothing. Hell, I might pick one up.

Hopefully, that will work well for him and last him a long time. At that price point I would think it should be fairly well made.

It should. I found a few reviews that stated it's well suited for those wil arthritis. My only concern is that it may be a bit too thin for him to grasp, but we'll work around that.
