I'm wondering what's going to happen to the big 12 in the near future.

We'll be just fine for now without the Aggies...., while I can't blame them for leaving if its b/c they want to get out from Texas's shadow, if its only b/c of the LHN in general then its dumb b/c they had the chance to have a Texas Network with UT and turned it down several years ago. Their biggest thing is that they are going to have to completely change their Anti-UT culture.. their whole identity and culture (emphasis on cult ;-) ) is based on beating UT, who they won't play any more b/c the Horns will not want to continue the rivalry unless the Texas legislature forces it like in the state of Florida. I expect the aggies to go from being 2nd only OU and Texas most years to being middle of the pack in the SEC. I hope i'm wrong for their sake but I don't think so.
At some point i expect it will be broken up as we move to super conferences, but for the time being if we pick up BYU (which is expected) and as long as OU doesn't think they need to leave it should be fine.. However if OU decides to leave then its every man for himself i think.

I hope the big 12 dissolves and TU gets to play with themselves like notre dame.
They can take their LHN and shove it.
Yes, I'm not at all pleased with the LHN. I'm not sure if the SEC will be a good move yet, we'll see. Hopefully we'll get some good recruiting out of it. The SEC is a tough **** conference. I agree that they'll probably be mid-pack. But historically, that's where they were with the big 12 as well. It's only been lately that A&M has put together a good team and only the last year or two that TU has sucked big time. OU & OSU have always been good, just like TU. I don't know the official rankings, but since the big 12 was started, I'd say TU, OU, OSU, & A&M (in that order) as far as best to worst in football, followed by everyone else.
I dont really hate TU though, its just a friendly rivalry. Tech on the other hand...if my kid ever wants to go there, I failed as a parent.

Tech, Baylor and all of the Big XII bottom feeders better pray that the Big XII stays together. It's pretty funny watching those two schools squirm right now.
As for A&M, I'm glad they finally built up the gumption to quit putting up with UT. It's a great school, with a lot of potential IMO....I agree that they tend to pre-occupy themselves with hating UT too much. They should have made this move a long time ago IMO. With the strength of A&M's alumni network (cult), and the improved recruiting in the SEC I don't think it will take them too long to build a program that is competitive in the SEC (I could be wrong). My System Showcase!

I don't really care where A&M goes, but we don't want them in the SEC. Let them go to the Big Sky or somewhere where they'll fit in.

You're right, the Big Sky conference would have been a much better fit for the Aggies. They can't compete in the SEC
