Ugh. I'm a huge Peppers fan, they are one of the great bands of my time. I'll try and pick this up tomorrow, but how great can it be with the loss of John to the band, HUGE loss of talent.

Picked it up yesterday after looking forward to it for 5 years. It is very mellow, closer to thier earleir stuff. It is a nice album, but a step back IMHO from their last 2 great albums: By The Way and Stadium. I would have prefered a harder mix that they also do very well. Perhaps the loss of John is the cause, perhaps age? I still give it a thumbs up.

    You consider Mother's Milk "mellow"?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Me too! Get the MFSL version Larry (if you don't have it). It sounds very nice.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I consider older Chili Pepper sound to have a heavier funk influence, while the newer Chili Pepper sound has more of a rock influence. This new one is more funk sounding imho.

I picked mine up yesterday (along with the Beastie Boys new album) and it’s a great cd. I feel that the loss of John has an effect on the sound, he could really rip it. I've seen Klinghoffer a few time with the Bicycle Thief (once at a Peppers show) and they we're impressive for an opener. The bass and drums carry this album more so than the two previous ones. I am surprised that they don't have a huge head banger, but they've got plenty of years in them and hopefully the return of a guitarist.

That being said, I do think this album is fairly mellow for them, but I don't think its either MORE funk or rock. No comparison to Mother Milk, this is a different offering from them.

I'm really digging "Even You Brutus?"

I've listened to it 3 or 4 times all the way through today - I think it's pretty good. Some of the tracks remind of me of some of the ones off of 'By the Way', but yeah it's not as hard as the older stuff. Still, plenty of catchy tunes and nice bass lines.

I'm a fan of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and I just grabbed their newest album. Songs are really great that it keeps me up at night while doing online researches for work.
