I have the Marsalis and Willie Nelson album which is good if you can deal with Willie Nelson. I'm hoping this one will be better.

I have that one in my Amazon wish list, still had not decided on whether to order it prior to hearing some reviews.

Wynton is one cool cat. I've seen him at the Kennedy Center in DC a few times. He surrounds himself with phenomenal musicians... he plays 3rd chair trumpet in his own jazz orchestra!

With Wynton being Wynton, and Clapton being Clapton, no need to hear reviews on this one. Sign me up!

It looks very promising - anyone know where I can hear a sample?

There have been people who have said that Wynton hasn't had enough bad experiences, in his life, to really know about the blues. A bad day for him is when he can't find the keys to the Bimmer.
But that's a little unfair, in my opinion. He's a knowledgeable, talented musician who has done much to promote jazz.

You know Kenneth, they said the same thing about Kenny Wayne Shepperd when he was just starting out, but he still can play the blues right up there with the best of them.

If you hear the music, it's being played right.

I love Wynton, have enjoyed his music since he first showed up in NY playing the VV. Technically, he's as good as anyone who's every played a horn. However, I've always felt that he lacked a little soulfulness in his playing. It's not fair, but comparing his sound to something like Miles, I find it a bit sterile.

Wynton is a technical musician. He needs a couple of divorces where they take everything he has to give him that soulful and passionate delivery.

This will sound awful, but his playing would probably benefit from a short-lived heroin addiction.

    j/k

Basically anything Clapton does for me. Now if Wynton had only married Amy Winehouse I think we'd have something.

Don't waste your money; listen before you buy it.
I have no idea what was Clapton thinking when he agreed to do this.

Clapton was thinking that maybe Wynton had some of those hot jazz groupies around!

More Dixieland jazz than blues; I didn't hear much guitar except for a couple of songs. Although I skipped most of the songs

One of those purchases I regret, and will probably not be played again, ever :eek:

    Oh, and sound quality sucks.
