Parasound amps are great, I can say so with extreme confidence after owning an HCA-1206 and the current Halo A51.
I wouldn't worry about humming. My old Parasound HCA-1206 got some humming after arrival. I called Parasound to find out how much it would cost to fix it, and they told me it might cost me around $400. I was mad but continued researching on the internet on how to deal with the issue. Guess what, it was so easy: I just had to open the top cover, make sure every screw was tightened appropriately and all cables were plugged in firmly. IT WORKED!!! I posted on the Gon / craigslist and was able to sell it via craigslist just a week ago

Thanks. I need the confidence. The seller is an older gentleman, and we talked on the phone today. I dont wanna insult him with a lowball offer. I think he'll get pissed and look elsewhere.LIVING ROOM:

I'm glad that DMara was able to alleviate the hum easily, but Parasound amps can get hums that are not so easily alleviated. Don't let that fact dissuade you, either, especially since the seller said that this particular example has no hum. My point is that DMara's hum experience should not persuade you one way or the other.
What is the condition like?
Does it come with the original box?
In mint condition, with the box, I'd say 1k would be ok. No box, less than mint condition = less money.

No box. He is saying real good condition. Said he had it checked out by "Tony" at Parasound and it went well. Original owner etc. been in rack since day one. I just cant deal with any equipment that hums. It brings back bad memories of crappy gearLIVING ROOM:

The HCA-2205 is not crappy gear.

$1000-$1100 is about going rate for the 2205a. A great amp and built like a tank. Just make sure it is packaged correctly when shipped. I would have UPS or FedEX do it. This amp tips the scales at close to 100 pounds.... Most people do NOT package them correctly and they get damaged in transit.
You will not regret this purchase. That amp is killer and will last you many years. I own one and doubt I will ever get rid of it.

dcmartinpc is right on the money with Agon. $1040 average, low of $810.
Sounds like an awesome upgrade. Now all you have to do is get it to you in one piece. Packing a 100 pound amp will be a challenge! -

Don
Sorry Don, but I'll disagree with the packing, Do Not let UPS or FedEX pack it, they use bubble wrap and peanuts in a HD box. Unless the one in his area does it different than everywhere else, peanuts and a big amp in a box is Bad. Call him back and ask if he's done a packing job before.
You want soft and hard foam all around it, or even better spray insulation foam in a protective bag cocoon, clamshell style in two parts top/bottom, especially with an amp with know issues of things shaking loose in transit. Good Luck with your purchase. Be firm with the packing from the seller, offer a bit more money, ask for photos of the job, step by step.Thorens TD125MKII, SME3009,Shure V15/ Teac V-8000S, Denon DN-790R cass, Teac 3340 RtR decks, Onix CD2...Sumo Electra Plus pre>SAE A1001 amp>Martin Logan Summit's -

That is good to know. I have shipped several amps but I have always had original packaging. The one amp I received without original packaging was shipped to me and packaged by UPS, so said the seller. It was done with the expanding foam in the cocoons. That is what I was basing my recommendation on. If that is not the case, then I am wrong!
I %100 agree with the packaging methods laid out by stuwee. Rigid foam or expanding foam is the way to go.

I am gonna luck out guys. Seller has to make a trip to Los Angeles this friday, so I am gonna drive 45 minutes to pick it up. Cool! I do need another power cord as he said he damaged the original upon removal from the rack somehow. Any suggestions for a replacement?LIVING ROOM:

Pepster makes some good PC's, or if you want to go DIY, Trey still has a bunch of DIY PC parts for sale in the FM. I think. I'm way to lazy to check. -
Cool. Thanks. I'll do some digging around. Signal Audio's magic power cord would be ideal.
I called Parasound and replacement cost $75+ship. Tony at Parasound said any 12 or even 14 awg. would be ideal.LIVING ROOM:
