Dumb question

I didn't see a subforum titeld 'ask your dumb questions here' so I'll just post in the clubhouse.

Can I split the RCA outputs out of, say, a DAC to go to two different devices. I have a DAC with one set of outputs, and I want to be able to send a signal to my headphone amp AND a signal to my 2 channel preamp. That signal does not have to be sent to both devices simultaneously, so if there's a switch or something that would work.

I know there are RCA y adapters out there, so I know that it's 'technically' possible, so I guess the question I'm really asking is if it's advisable and if I'd lose sound quality?

Any specific product recommendations would be helpful as well.

    Yes, you're just going to get a signal voltage drop. If your gear can compensate for thee loss, you should be fine.

    Not cheap, but high quality. The owner is pretty flexible and may be willing to make a two position switch for you.

    I have my DAC output split going into my preamp and headphone amp.
    No problems.
