Does anyone have this combo? the HR A/V is 8 ohm, while the SVS sub is 4 ohm, so are they compatible? What do you guys recommend for sub? I have Polk RTi150 fronts, CSI49 center and FXi50 surround.
I've read a lot about SVS and HSU, seems like they are the best value. How come no one talks about Polk subs here, are they that bad?
Thanks
sorry, typo, i meant 20-39 PC+

There is no such animal as the 25-39. It is either the 25-31 or the 20-39.
Regardless, if it is a passive sub, it will have a CS designation and needs a separate amp.
If it is powered, it will have a PC designation and will have an onboard amp.
Either way, your AVR sends the sub amp a tiny pre-amp signal from the sub-out jack on the back. There is no need to be worried about the impedance of the woofer in the SVS with repect to your h/k."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

Thanks Dr.
Do you recommend that i set the RTi150 fronts to "large" or "small" when I add the SVS to my HT? the RTi150 does go pretty low already, would setting it "small" improve the midrange sounds? Currently I don't have a sub yet, so at "large" setting the midrange isn't as clear as when I set it to "small", but then no bass though..... so i guess w/ SVS sub i can set the RTi to "small" to make it sound better, right? Or, if i don't set it to "large", am I wasting the RTi's low freq. woofers ... meaning not utilizing the speakers to its fullest?
Also before I place an order for SVS online, i want to listen to one. Is there a sub available say in Circuit City or Goodguys that is comparable to the SVS PC+ 20-39? I know it's not going to be the same as testing a SVS, but at least i can tell the approximate range of performance i can expect out of SVS. -
You have hit the crux of the problem when using the RTi150 for a HT application. When set to large it sucks a bunch of power from your AVR. When set to small, you are wasting those three hot woofers. What a conundrum.
If I had the RTi150s, here's how I would go with my BM:
150's large
all other speakers small
subwoofer on/yes
You cannot hear an SVS except at an owner's house. There is a 45 day money back no questions asked guarantee; all you pay is shipping. I'm betting you won't return it. :-)
A comparable sub to a 20-39PC+ might be the Velodyne HGS-15, if you can find one."What we do in life echoes in eternity"
