Sounds better than it should

The RTA12s made their way back home about a month ago. Picked up a 9/10 Denon 2900 from orignal owner and pulled the NAD 304 out from under the bed.

I need to get the 12s off the floor but amazing how good this little inexpensive system sound.
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs

    Nice, man. I love the 12's. IMO they do some things better than any other vintage Polk speaker. Imaging, for example, can be spooky when set up right. They'll never have the width and enveloping nature of the SDA soundstage, but their center image can be much more realistic and precise. The bass on them is really great too. They don't dig as deep as a 2B or 1C, but their bass is quicker, tighter, and more textural.

    Thanks, trying to get my sister inlaw to take them back with her to Houston.

    My wife said she was suprise how nice it sounds which to even get my wife to make a comment on this is amazing.

    Yea, if you can get a broad to notice a difference, you must be doing something right.:smile:

    The real challenge is to get a non-audio head to notice anything, regardless of gender of course.:wink:

    Just raised the 12s 5 inches. The air the 12s have is sweet.

    Really have no place to put this system but it is fun to put together a nice sounding system for less than 3 bills.

    Whomever has been pushing that button in the middle of the nad, tape mon i believe, has a love of the real deal grilled cheese, the kind thats browned in a cast iron skillet in butter.

    I hope thats all it is.

    seriously, those speaks look pretty damn cool, and agree totally with price tag is not what we listen to, its the gear.

    Dont get me wrong, i would crow if i could afford some esoteric, high dollar stuff, but we have lived too, have we not?

    Yeah, did not notice that until I took a pic. First time I have used it since buying it 8 months ago. While try cleaning it.

    that player was a grand when it was new...no slouch and shines with high-rez, NAD and Polk have always been a great match.
