Haven't been around much, focusing on family, finding new job, and getting finances in order....just wanted to say my family wishes all in the path of Irene safe haven. My family is out on Cape Code at our OLD summer family cottage boarding the place up right now.

    I'm in Alexandria, VA, and I'm more concerned with flooding than with damaging winds. My 2-channel system is in my basement, which has flooded from time to time when the sump pump fails. We've got the pump on battery back-up now, but you never know... I'll be downstairs monitoring the incoming water (read: blasting my 2-channel system w/ my new 1.7's and drinking good beer), that way I can move stuff if necessary. It gives me a good excuse to indulge in my system for a couple days straight!:wink::biggrin:

    I would still get the 2 channel upstairs. Pump can only do so much.

    The highest the basement has ever flooded was only a couple inches, and that was during Isabel which was much larger than Irene. All of my electrical components are elevated several feet, so it's just the speakers I'd have to get off the floor.

    Here's a pic a Isabel from 2003, she went much farther inland than Irene will:
