I was given a pair of these interconnects. I want to know are these directional in anyway? Should the network box be plugged in closer to my source?

    Yes, they are directional. There should be arrows on the cable jacket. Anyway, the network box should be at the pre amp end away from the source. Those are also impedance specific and should marked low, medium or high.
