Hey everyone,

I have just graduated college, and want to spend my new job money on some good HT audio. I already purchased some rti a5's back in December, but I am now looking for a new receiver. Currently I have the Yamaha v565, but I can't fit my big wires into its spring loaded clips.

I would like to stay under $1000 (the lower the better), but I still want something that is very good. The use is almost purely HT, very little music. Both the vsx 52 and sr5006 look interesting. I am leaning towards the Elite because I hear it is better for HT than Marantz.

Any preferences? Go ahead and persuade me. Also, I am open to other suggestions!

    First Welcome to Club Polk!

My first Elite receiver was an older VSX54 and I continue to use and Elite in my system with nothing but good service and great sound. I have read great things about the SC series Elite (ICE Amp) and it would be a step up if you ccould stretch your budget. I do not have any experience with Marantz but I think you will be happy with either choice since the A5s are easy to drive.

If you spent a little bit more you could get the SC 55.

+1 on the SC-35, the VSX52 is nice too but lacks the power of the SC series. Marantz 5006 is basically a rebadged Denon 1912.

Ok, I posted a new thread before I saw the responses here. But basically I found the sc-35 for super cheap today at Best Buy ($850 out the door, even with the 4 year warranty). The are discontinuing it for whatever reason..

Anyway, I was going to ask if this thing is worth having, but it sounds like you guys already believe it is.
