Just bought myself a Pioneer SC-25, and there is no room for this baby. I rate it 9/10 just due to age. No scratches, dings, bumps etc. etc. Babied from day 1. I am the original owner purchased from BESTBUY. Original box, remote, set-up mic, antenna, warranty paperwork included. I will look for the manual upon sale. Will ship double boxed.

I believe the price is fair at $420 & we split the shipping. Paypal or cash. Local pick-up is cool. Will ship when payment clears. Price on this thing online is anywhere from $394.25-$499.99. Many of those are "b-stock" units!

    What's a "b" stock unit?

Typucally a product that had some issue and was fixed & refurbished by the original manufacturer, or a second outside party. It is then repackaged and branded with a new serial #, so it can be identified as "b-stock". So I figure why buy this when you can buy mine! Which of course has never had defects.

How do these AVR's sound in comparison to the 1120k and Harman Kardons? I had a H/K 635 that sounded wonderful but lacked HDMI and DTS-Mastered Audio so it was lacking when it came to movies to me.

I haven't heard the Pio Vsx-1120k, and its been a while since I messed with H/K receivers. Pioneers have always been my favorites. Clean powerful sound even at higher volumes. H/K avr's always have tons of power even at low volumes. I would still choose Pioneer avr's just because they have been so reliable for me, and have a good reputation and resale value because to me it seems that Pioneer is a better known brand to the general public than H/K.

I'll watch and see how this goes. I'm interested, but need it shipped FPO AP. What's the power rating on it? I'd only be using it in my living room to drive a pair of TSI200s.

I just purchased a VSX-23 from an online retailer for a price I wont mention on this thread.

Said it was new in the box and it looked like it was. It has worked great so far and seems to do everything the manual said it should.

Are there any ways to check if the unit is indeed a b-stock unit?

Honest retailers or resellers will mention it, some sellers wont. Some companies, like Emotiva, retag an item with a letter "b" after the serial number.

Is the SC-35 a step down compared to the SC-27? I noticed that the SC-27 retailed for $2,200.00 and the SC-35 retailed for $1,600.00.

    Just curious

Yeah I've also noticed that. The resale prices on the sc-25 & 27 seems to be at or above those of the newer Sc models.
I read in another forum, maybe Avs, that some people liked the older Sc models
( 05, 07, 25,27) to the newer ones. I heard the Sc-35 & 37 at BestBuy and I thought my Pioneer vsx-23, which I am currently selling, sounded just as good.
The Sc-25 I am using now, is a step up from my vsx-23. I haven't tweaked it too much, but those ice amps do make a difference. Gonna be around for a while.

I'm still an audio beginner. How does this compare to the Onkyo 705? It'll be powering RTi8s, a CSi5 and two FXIA6's.

I'm happy with my 705 but I keep seeing this and it looks nice...

I am not familiar with the "sound" of Onkyo receivers. I have always loved the power and sound of Pioneer Elite receivers. That being said, It looks like the Pioneer has a little more power. I like the look of the Pioneer more, plus the Vsx-23 weighs almost double than your Onkyo 705. Maybe other Onkyo users can chime in. I really like the Auto Mcacc feature on the Pioneer which pretty much sets up your receiver for listening using a small mic. You can always sell the one you dont decide to keep...

i have a TX SR705 and a TX SR504 AVR and i can tell you that my 2 Pioneer elite AVRs (SC-07 VSX-84TSXi) they bothblew it was IMO with 140wpc. the 705 has 100wpc.

the VSX-23 is a 110wpc. i would go with the Pioneer elite ICE power amp anyday of the week.
