Welcome to 100% scadouchebagdom. A5 & Q5 just to keep symmetry.

My wife keeps saying OURS, but I firmly disagree....

Nice rides Doro, really nice. Your A5 looks really sweet.
Being such a dark car if you don't have or haven't used it get a Clay bar kit from "Mothers" it is well worth it. use it after you wash then wash again and wax. Depending how much you want to do I would also use a cleaner wax before you final wax "Meguires" is what I use. The clay bar will remove any dust that gets stuck to the paint and will not scratch at all. The wax will last longer too. I use it on my wifes car and the Clay bar can do wonders.

I'm a newbie on automotive paint finishes Dave....so I will check out that kit. It's going in for the 3M film next week as I was really pleased with it on the TT we had for a short time. I'm thinking of investing in a buffer....if anything for speed. It's brand new so I may pass on the cleaner wax but get a nice base waxing down before winter. It won't go anywhere if there's snow on the ground unless I just want to spin my wheels the whole time.

    ...so it's both an A5 and a Q5 - like a "Transformer"? Cool.

Yes and it's very convenient although for some reason a giant, Audi ringed **** pops up in the drivers seat when I press the red button.

You're not big enough of a douchebag to drive an A5.

    Congrats!

Zaino, makes Meguires look like a toy and you dont need no buffer!

    Nice ride

I've seen a lot of chatter about Zaino but not a ton of A B.

I used Meguires... Eagle... you name for YEARS.

Zaino is where it is at... before I traded in my truck - I waxed it once and then washed it again a year and a half later and the truck still beaded water like no ones business. I would call that a winner. My truck was black too. If that was Meguires it would of been gone a long time ago....

Once you go Zaino, you will never go back - guaranteed.

I have used Meguires, Mothers, Zymbol... Turtle... Liquid Lustre.. Name it..
What I found is the use of any brand, will still require continued use despite the reported claims. Just depends on where you live and the weather. For me, it came down to how fast and easy it comes off after you apply it. I was a fan of all them aforementioned.

Buffer? Not all are created equal.... Swirl..... I can not attest to which and why is best, because I hated growing up in it.

That's about where I'm at Halen...no product is without re-use or it would be pointless and not sales worthy. I've always used Liquid Glass but may get into something different. I'm a fan of easy to remove and am really thinking about a machine.

    Yeah Zaino is it then.

Seriously - you apply the product on the whole car (needs to sit for about a hour or so) - so by the time you have done the whole car... you just start over buffing it out and it literally comes off with zero effort.

I could wax my truck (huge) in no time flat with Zaino where as Meguires three step process (which still was not near as shiney or awesome) took all day.

Zaino does not come off or melt off like wax, it builds up over time. That is why after my truck went neglected for over a year or so it still had a nice coat hanging out.

The stuff is excellent. I assure you if you buy it - you will like it and never buy anymore of it again.

The glass polish and tire shine is also excellent too.

Really all of their stuff is awesome. I was skeptical too - but not after using it...

I attached a picture of my first time using Zaino, the polish - the glass polish, the whole nine yards... Remember my truck had... 130,000 miles on it and was 5 years old at this point

If you are a newb on paint finishes, I would stick with the clay bar suggested and good old fashioned handwork on the wax. Zeibart "Diamond-gloss" is a great product as well for protecting the finish.

Going with any kind of buffer will cause swirls in the finish , especially on dark finishes if you do not know exactly how to use it.

Congrats on the great looking rides!

    Thanks Drenis

John - A buddy of mine is a detailer and said the same thing so he's going to school me. I'm aware of that already and know it can cause immediate damage if just used willy nilly. I'm still scared tho'. I've used Liquid Glass for years and depending on everything else may just stick with it for now. I'll check out that Zeibart brand, thank you.

As long as your aware of the minus's of using a buffer Mark. Way back when, I had the same thoughts as you, quicker. That was until one day I put the buffer down, a seed from a tree flew into the pad that I was unaware off, and sure as little green apples I was buffing the hood.....well,you get the picture. Now, I just hand wax, if I feel a need to buff, I'll let a body shop do it every couple years.

Understood Tony....still debating it all and have historically not had an issue with the old fashioned way. I cannot imagine what words you used when that happened....holy crap. I'm thinking I'll do basic stuff and get a nice head to toe job done every year or so.
