Hurricane Irene in the Outer Banks and more

I'm at the tail end of our vacation in the Outer Banks and have to leave early. Beautiful weather all week including today so far. Will be leaving around 4am to hopefully avoid most of the traffic. Right now there is a mandatory evacuation for Okracoke Island and a voluntary for those on vacation in other parts of the Outer Banks. I feel sorry for those who wait till FriDAY to leave. First it was the earthquake I had to be concerned with since I live in Richmond Va. and now this. One of my first thoughts as I was on the beach when the quake happened was, "I wonder if the new speakers I just bought were 100% centered on the stands and if they fell." My sister was nice enough to know my way of thinking and went over and checked everything out for me. She called with good news so all is well, lol. I hope anyone who has to deal with this storm fares well.

Kinda nice right now though. I stay up in the Southern Shores area and it has a different feel to it right now. Only about a 1/3 of the traffic I normally see for this time of day. Does make it nice for driving though. Down on the beach it almost feels like your own private getaway. What am I talking about, that's how it feels every vacation on the beach here. One of the reasons I come every year. I cannot stand Va. beach and beaches like that where people are up your **** the whole time. Off to the beach for a few hours and then time to start cleaning up for the early departure.Everything matters. That is all.

Just got back from Carolina Beach a few weeks ago, wonderfull time. Looks like I'm heading back Sunday afternoon to help out with storm damage, it'll be interesting to see the aftermath, hopefully its not too terrible. I don't know if I'll be going to that area, or Va Beach.
If anyone needs a place to stay Friday/Saturday night, I may be able to line that up! Brined/Smoked turkey karma Saturday! -
NJ towns are telling people not to come down this weekend.
NJ State gubment is likely going to tell the shore towns to evacuate.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Good luck to everyone in the path.
To everyone nearby me in New England who's freaking out, however.... c'mon. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

I reformatted my Will and left everything to my cats. They'll survive me and carry on my legacy. Goodbye cruel world, Irene is a'comin to destroy everything that i cherish!...Why....WHY!!!
Riiiiight...All the warnings on the Worcester/Boston channels are pathetic. They make it seem like this is the first storm we've ever caught the tail end of a storm. Call me when a Nor-easter is in the forecast, then i'll put on my boots...Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
i'm waiting for the next path prediction model... I suspect it will eventually have a direct path up the Chesapeake bay,,,,
