bought these a couple months ago off ebay after hearing some ragged kappas and crescendos while auditioning adcom gear i bought.

The emit tweeter and polydome mid captivated us in the guys living room.

I paid too much(200) with shipping, but they are perfect cond, well handled refoamed woofs, cabs are remarkable, emits are in beautiful cond., which is not always the case, what with the film and other sensitive components.

They just did not have it, whatever IT was in that guys living room.

Well, today i just got up, walked over, turned the treble all the way down, and the bass all but down.

Voila, i am listening to light classical on directtv sonic tap, and its all there, the acoustic and piano instruments, woodwinds and strings, just lovely.

Back when i was asking advice here about buying the electronics in this setup, i was immediately told the pre was the weak point, and i guess taking it out as much as possible helped, by the way, when all we are going through with my mom is over, i think i will be selling one of the two 5400 amps to help fund another upgrade, probably tt area, or possibly preamp.

heres the equip. rundown and pics, always a little sheepish about that, knowing the gear many of you guys have, but my ears are very happy today, and thought i would share.

and thank you all for sharing your thoughts and prayers for us and my mom, i cant tell you how much it means.

Amp is GFA 5400
Pre is gtp 450
cd is GCD 700

I never use Tone controls anymore. My controls are set in the middle for both Bass and Treble on my upstairs system and I don't have controls on the 2ch system.

Emit's are bright sounding so your fix is probably the only way to tame them.

Infinity's have there own sound for sure. Glad your enjoying them.

I have a set of rs6B here at work. I actually think they sound dang good especially for their size. I happen to be a emit fan. What did you have the bass and treb set at before? what was your starting point?

My rig at home with the JM labs ( talk about bright lol ) i keep flat but at work since they are in a much less then idea place, i do use them. I keep the treb flat, and the bass at -1. For my area where they are sitting, it sounds good!

You said your source is direct tv, have you tried a cd or lp on them?

Never apologize for the gear you have. If you love the sound that's all that counts and it doesn't matter one whit what you have to do to make the sound yours. I have the 5400 hooked up to a pair of large Advents and they sound great. You have a very nice looking system. Take care.......God bless your mother.

I guess thats the term, right in the middle.

Once they were turned all the way down, bass a tiny bit up, it seemed to have opposite effect, they actually sound more pronounced, and certainly clearer.

By the way, the adcom cd player in the pic, and my cheapie tt have been used with system, but not since adjusting tone.

    Probably tonight.
