"Keep It Simple Stupid"

The internet is a wonderful thing, no doubt about it. But please, when posting comments or opinions, or reviews KISS. I don't need your life story, or the long story about your life. Just get to the point.

I (try to) "read" so many reviews on Amazon and the like about products and people go into WAY to much detail. Totally get off track or try too hard to make a point. Just the facts "mam".

When it comes to the internet I have a very limited, very limited, attention span. I'm not going to read anything over a paragraph long, it's a waste of time.
If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

I gave up on spectrum analyzer information, in regards to audio, many years ago, although my vocation speaks otherwise. If it sounds good, it sounds good...if it sounds worse later, well, shite happens and I'll keep my eye on it.

I also stopped reading John's posts years ago but he's so cuddly and warm in person, I can't deny him.

    This.

I am not going to oversimplify and dumb down my posts just because some people are too lazy to read them. If you are incapable of reading a long post, I'm sorry, but that says more about you than it does about me.

If I make a long post or review, there is a reason for it. I don't just put in random details to lengthen my post; I put them in there for a reason. If the post or review needs to be long to get my point across, then so be it.

Detailed reviews of products is great. Sometimes it's the little features/bugs that of a product that really annoys me. For example, silencing a cell phone. Some phones make it easy with one setting. For others, there can be 3-4 sound settings that must all be turned off. Usually this can be accomplished via profiles though. Still, understanding the UI gotchas is crucial in review.

But I agree, I watch youtube product "reviews" where people spend 5 minutes unboxing and talking about how the thing looks and smells great, and how great the $0.50 USB cable is in its plastic baggie and twist tie. Then they spend 2 minutes showing you how to turn the unit on, and then that's the end. Uuugghgh!

So..... if I'm reading the original post correctly, everyone is to begin changing the way they post on Club Polk to better accomodate RonP's preferred reading habits? And is this effective immediately? And is this under the very real threat of him not reading anything "more than a paragraph long"?

    I sense a revolution brewin'.

    Hahaha, I love it.

My post was brought on by my dog collar research and the people at Amazon who post pages of sheet telling their life story about their dog, it's issues, the house they live in, where they grew up, the neighbors, and on, and on, and on. F'it people, did the collar work or not, that's all I need to know.

...yet you're the one with the barking dog who can't get it to stop. Maybe if you read a little more about dogs before you got one you would have had a better understanding of them and a plan in place before it became a problem.

The people on Amazon are just trying to help.

We've all noted not to give Ron-P the advice he asks for from now on.

I'm always amazed how often someone will post the title of a movie and follow it with a "I liked it. Go see it!". This is, in turn, followed by about fifteen responses that indicate everyone else will now see said movie based on only this information. Really????

    For example:
OP: Big Momma's House 5: Bigger, Mommier, Housier. It was so good, I farted!
20 (plus) responses: Great! Just put on the top of my Netflix queue! Thanks for the heads up!

I don't know about taking this (or myself) seriously. I just have strong opinions, and have a tendency to be very blunt when expressing them. Note that I am not actually bothered by the OP, nor by anything in this thread. I am simply giving my point of view on the subject matter.

That being said, I certainly could have worded my prior post in a better way. I apologize if I ruffled any feathers.
