I need some recommendations on good brands/models (new or old) for a 3 channel amp to drive some LSI's. Other than the emotiva xpa-3.

Now you're talking my language fyrn. What's your price range like? If you're on a budget, might look at a 3 channel Acurus,Parasound,B&K,Rotel or Adcom amps? Aragon made a sweet 3 channel amp too.(might be pricey though). You might look at running 3 mono amps like the Marantz or Outlaw Audio.

Sunfire, Outlaw Audio, Parasound, Rotel are some to name a few. Check out Audiogon.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Stick around here fyrn, some of our fellow CP members might be able to fix you up with some nice used gear:)

In fact, check the for sale section. Someone's got a pretty good deal on an Adcom GFA-5503 right now, and that would work nicely with the LSis. Hell, if I had money right now, I'd pounce on it just to power my RTi70/CSi40 front soundstage.Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector

there's a parasound 2003 on audiogon as well (300w x 3, 4ohms). I didn't know any 3ch parasounds existed!Dali Optikon 1Mk2
NAD D3020 V2
Schiit Bifrost 2/64
..the rest are headphone setups. -

Well I can get a new emotiva xpa3 for $600 so maybe something used in the 200-300 range would be good -
300 is probably more realistic, $200 would be great. I think for couple hundred I'll go with the emotiva new. If anybody has an XPA-3 they want to sell send me a PM

Carvers can be had in that $$ range. Here's a sixer that can bridge to three.

Thanks gdb, I'll research it, anytime something is describe as rare = old -
Let me ask a "stupid" question since I'm new to separates. The LSI"S (7 or 9) specs say amp requirement is up to 200 watts. Anything bad if you hook them up to a 300 or 400w amp. Obviously I'm not going to play it full blast, buy just the amount of watts present

Good luck with the Emotiva...

Does that mean I wont be able to find anything for less than $400... -
@fyrn...Emotiva amps are good..i have two UPA-1,s and they have a really good sound too them..200 watts and lots of headroom..anything else for (new) will run you 1K..but if going (used) then may the power of the watts be with you.Testing

Parasound should smoke the emotiva

You're going to have a tough time finding a 3 channel amp for $200-$300. The suggestion of buying a 6 channel amp & bridging it would be a good one, if you weren't hooking it to 4 ohm speakers. Most will not be very happy trying to drive that load in bridged configuration. I've owned the Acurus A200x3 before & currently have its big brother, the Aragon 8008x3. Both are great but above your price range. Closer to your range would the the Acurus 100x3. If it's anything like the 200x3, it would be a solid choice.

Honestly... I went thu the 300ish amp price range thought process....bought and sold two Adcoms. I took the next step in price and have stuck with the 2003 since. -
+100 on what kevhed72 suggested. Save some more and go the next step up in price. You'll be glad you did.

not true. I can easily get amps that cost less than 1K new, may not be the best in SQ but they do happen to be out there. -

Cept when that kitchen staffer bought that sweet Benz for a measly 20 bucks! I'd have to say that sometimes, that old adage just doesn't hold true! -

jojomgee just had a Adcom Gfa-5503 right here at CP Flea Market ,looks like he had to take to Ebay to sell it though???
-
what would you say is the "least" amount of watts for the LSI9's to do well
-
these speakers you ask of say they're rated for 20-200. so if it's 200 x 3 for the amp that'd be perfect. but really anything in between would work.Home theater:
