OK I have had these for years on a shelf because I love Advents but am no longer in a postion to have toys laying around. Need to pay bills. I tried selling these outright but now may have to part them out which is a shame. These are Advent 1s from 1978 to 1982. Same exact drivers as the New Advent loudspeaker released in 1978 but in a slightly smaller cabinet.

Two original fried egg tweeters ( the updated 1978 vversion) Work perfectly asking $25 each???

Two original Advent woofers which I do not believe have been refoamed and
they do not need anything and are in great shape and work perfectly. $40 each??

Also a pair of very nice grills
Thanks,keith

Those woofers have definitely been refoamed... IMO

I think that the original woofers had the foam surround reversed so that instead of bulging outward like normal surrounds the Advents had the woofer surround in a trough-like configuration forming a kind of concave surround. If that makes sense. At least that's what mine look like. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. And I'm not really sure it makes much of a difference either way.

I'd really like to see someone pick these up. I would've myself but I just bought a pair a few months back. Shame to see such Vintage stock 'parted' out! Come on guys. You can't get any more 'classic' than this. All of you 40 something and older should own a pair. Just my opinion of course.

Hope someone still considers a purchase of both speakers as is. That's a nice price too Keith. It's true that pricing is all over the place..but low to mid 100s for a decent pair is a good buy!

I just refoamed my Advent U4's with the same metal woofer. They are correctly installed. The older advents with the masonite basket woofers were inverted. If those woofers were never refoamed then they will need to be. If they are in good shape, someone refoamed them at one time. Either way nice speakers. I love my set.

As I recall my New Advent Loudspeakers I had in college (same as these but bigger) had the foam outward The earlier ones may have been inverted but not sure

Those are nice looking Advents. The surround on the woofer is installed correctly. I've never seen an Advent woofer that old which has not been refoamed and these have been refoamed but they look nice.

Rec'd today in great shape. Well packed. Many thanks for the excellent transaction. Fun stuff to work on tonight. I'm a bit anxious about working on the crossovers though <gulp>.
    Cheers!
