Hi guys,
I was wondering if any of you would be willing to either talk me into or out of buying a set of Monitor 10s with peerless tweeters?
I already own quite a few Polks: SDA 2Bs, Monitor 5 (peerless), LSI 7s, some RTi-A3s and so on.
I've been looking for a set of Monitor 7s, considered by some the best of the Monitors. What do you guys think? The 10s are about an hour away and probably about 85-90 asking, haven't seen them yet.
Thanks. I've read lots of posts on these but I've never heard them.

If you were looking for a set of Monito 7's anyway. I would absolutely get a set of the M10A's with the peerless tweets for 85-90 or less. That is if they are in good working and cosmetic shape. I own some M10A's, 2B's, 3.1TL's, and 2.3TL's. I think the M10A's are a good set of speakers for "standard" listening or even for HT use. I would absolutely grab them instead of some Monitor 7's. That's my personal opinion, of course.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

That's a good price for M10's with a peerless tweet. I had them and sold them because I prefer the M7's with the peerless tweet. They are big speakers. To me any of the Monitor's with the peerless tweet is the way to go. The Monitor line took a step back when it went to the SL2000 tweet. IMO. If you have the room go for the M10's. They were the only Polk speaker I have had that improved with the use of an EQ. It helped with the Mid section. I hope you are enjoying the M5's.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

The Monitor 7's I bought from Intangible are terrific little speakers, even with the SL2000 and stock caps. I can only imagine what they'll be like after a few upgrades. That seems like a great price on the 10's. I paid about the same for the 7's and they're worth every penny.Display: Sony 42" LCD

If I were you, I would grab the 10's and then keep looking for 7's.
You'll only know which one you like better by listening to both.
As long as they're in good shape, you'll have no problem turning them around if you so desire.
The 10's are thumpers for sure. Some people love the bass; I think they're a little bloated sounding in the lower midrange compared to the 7's or 5's.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

That's a fair price if they are in good shape. Everyone should try the 10's once in their journey. If you get them, check the fuses and clean the holders before you fire them up. Down the road look at updating the crossovers.>

7s image much better than 10s and are more detailed. 10s have a warmer, fuller sound and dig deeper. Your 2Bs are a sizable step above both.

For that price pick them up.If they are not your taste pass them to a friend or family member.I have both the 7s and the 10s and enjoy them both.Dan
