Poll for HT Furniture

I am kicking around a small business idea, based on my difficultly finding quality racks/stands for my HT system that were the correct size. This poll applies to folks who already have their HT gear set-up with racks/stands, as well as those who are in the market for racks/stands.

Here is the question: How interested would you have been, or how interested are you, in a semi-customized, modular system to hold your center channel, amps, AVR, TV, etc. ? You would have the choice of either black or wood color shelves, and choice of either black or silver poles. Various sizes of both would be available.

I have been kicking this idea around as well. I have a shop working on some custom granite stands to match my amps, and have thought about using the material for making a complete shelving system.

These days its hard to find the right racks to fit all your gear on with a projector screen and having space for the 3 front speakers at the same time

My vote would be very interested but my preference is just black so light dont bounce around whilst watching a movie

    Not at all.

I buy the least expensive, generic rack I can find and make it work. I have no need for anything custom or fancy, just functional. I bought a rack from Target, all black with adjustable shelves. Works great and then all I did was tweak it a bit and isolate it.

Interested to see what you had in mind. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an inexpensive VTI rack.

I have been making select pieces for myself. I have built a center channel speaker stand, a speaker stand for my PC Monitor (an integrated amp sits underneath it), and I am currently building speaker stands.

Nothing better than a great stand or rack for the gear. I don't buy the most expensive but will spend the cash for something nice appearance wise. After spending the cash on nice gear, there's no way I would want to display in something cheap and flimsy.

I'm getting ready to upgrade to a large plasma. Right now, the center channel sits on a shelf on top of my DLP. That won't be an option with a plasma. So, I can either mount the plasma on the wall and put the center channel in / on the rack.

The preferred solution would be a nice box that holds the center channel and acts as a stand / riser for the plasma. I have seen several posts over the years with center channel issues and where to put them as they don't fir in most racks or stands.

So, if your considering building something like that, I would be interested. Black is always my preferred color.
