Sweet ride! I would love to take a spin in the SRT-8 but they really aren't that practical.

Ha, looks like one of the Cardinal teams followed you to AZ!

That should come in handy during all those bad winters you guys get!!!

I got one the first year they came out - 1993 (actually 1992 1/2). Wish I still had it.

    Enjoy.

Congrats, good looking truck. Ive been thinking about picking up an old Wagoneer when we move to Oz, so simple to work on and the magic of straight axle's. Yep I love me a good Jeep, I do.

Heres an idea, drive it slowly through the yard, that way you can tell everyone you took a stock 2011 Jeep Cherokee rock crawling in Arizona.

    Danke home skillet

It's extremely refined now---very quiet cabin, very smooth suspension. I had a '93 Cherokee, and the 2 couldn't be any more different.

I had a 1999 Limited model with the 5.something liter V8. The transmission crapped out on us, but that was a lifetime ago from the one you have sitting in your driveway now, that is supposed to be a very well built car, maybe Mercedez influenced?

Watching your video I was noticing how many features that Jeep shares with my 2010 4Runner (terrain select, reclining backseats, etc). The 4Runner is kind of a dying breed in that it's actually a very good off-road vehicle. In the world of soccer mom Explorers and Tahoes with their cushy ride and independent rear suspension, Toyota has stuck to their guns on the 4Runner and kep it as a good off-road vehicle. The downside is that comes at the expense of some ride comfort, they still have a solid rear axle believe it or not.

Your Jeep is supposed to bridge that gap a little, where it's a very capable off-road vehicle but has the on road comfort of something like an Explorer, at least that's what I've read.

I'll be anxious to hear your comments as you have more time with it.

    Congrats on the new ride!

Pentastar is the new V6 DOHC engine, with 290hp and 260 ft/lbs of torque. The 2012 Wranglers will also get the new V6 (but not 2011). Significantly more power than the old 3.7 ltr and 4.0 ltr, 6's. It's coupled with a 5-speed auto tranny for extra grunt. The GC is also available with the 5.7 ltr Hemi V8, and 2012 will feature the SRT8 6 point something liter monster.

The chasis is the Mercedes ML series, and features a first time independant rear suspension (for Cherokee). One of the items "won" by Chrysler during the Daimler/Chrysler divorce.

Very nice! I had '95 and '99 Grand Cherokee's with the 4.0 I6. Absolutely bullet-proof rides, both went over 200k without needing much of anything. The '99 sacrificed itself and probably saved my life.

many moons ago, I wanna say 02 or 03? maybe earlier. wranglers and Liberties still get the 3.7, the grand obviously has the new pentastar as an option.

I heard they are mulling putting the pentastar in the wrangler.....I dont know about that.

God I miss that 4.0 though, a horrible unsophisticated Piston slappy mess that you just couldnt kill. served me in my 96 Cherokee Sport for over 9 years, and was strong as hell when i traded her in.

2012 Wranglers will have the Pentastar V6 as standard. I'm impressed with this engine, given the Cherokee's PIG weight of over 2 tons. It also has a cool growl to it when you get on the gas.
