Yes, you got that right. Over $3,000 worth of printers (Color, Laser, Print/Scan/Copy) but a $50 CRT monitor. It's quite obvious what my priorities are. Except for the one I bought for my dorm room, we don't have any other LCDs.

CRT's still have some of the best color, and since he's got video editing software that could be why.

Personally as a graphic guy the LCD's are nice, but man my old CRT can still keep up with them color wise (just not resolution or size wise).

I know, you can get them free nowadays. During trash day there were a whole bunch of them sitting in an apartment complex dumpster, I'm sure most of them were good. Shoulda picked up one or two.

Nice set-up Serendipity! I guess you must be mainly working from home?

...not counting CRT are of better built quality, more reliable, last longer and worth fixing if needed. Heck in about 6 years, went through 3 monitors. The first was a CRT and was replaced only to be up in technology and to provide more room on my desks. Since then, I am on my 2nd LCD flat monitor and don't expect that 2nd one to last that long. Quality wise, todays technology $ucks. :frown: In fact, I've been keeping 2 vintage proffesional Sony monitors (1 is 14" while the other is 20") for future use. These 2 monitors are heavy as hell and buil like tanks! I've always been amazed at the VQ of thos 2 monitors however, the CRT monitor that I've owned that my opinion had the best VQ was the monitor that came with my Commodore 64.

Wow! Thanks for the link Serendipity, there seem to be many clever idea on this site. One has the choice of having a large ego and buy the latest technology at top dollar$ or maximize is $ by being clever and recycling proven existing technology. If choosing the first option, having the budget is relevant which I will admit mine is humble/limited.

INHO, if he spends a lot of times working in there, while white is neutral and can even be seen as dull by many it would provide the best working environment helping keep the room very bright. Just a thought...

I still use a 12 yr. old Toshiba 20" CRT at home. ES is right, for being old technology, CRT's do produce excellent color levels. Maybe LCD's have gotten better at producing an accurate black levels over the past 5 years, no comparison to a CRT black levels.

The room is neutral in color because it's the easiest to work in for long periods of time. If you go to the "My work in progress..." thread you can see that the other rooms (HT and living room) are nicely colored

Its a personal choice, I've been working all morning with my favorite radio station through the internet. Fun, fun, fun especially when you are on your last day priming up for your summer vacation.

    Neither.

The rule in this household is if you are working and/or in school, no rent. Considering that I just got a job in post production (hence the Final Cut Pro on my Mac), and am interested in continuing with further education, I will be here for the rest of the summer. I am looking to work and get my Master's/PhD. at the same time if I can find an employer that pays for continuing education.

I plan to be in an apartment before I am 23 years old.
